Lumps and Friends at the Dublin Castle, 24 February
Can't wait for this next London gig. We are playing with three of our all time favourite bands.
Those Naughty Lumps + Daddy Those Men Scare Me + The Benefit Cheats + Three From Above
LONDON: Dublin Castle
SAT 24TH FEB, 2018 7:45pm
There is no headline band here - every one of these bands is worth twice the price of admission on their own!
Our host Tony Gleed says:
Those Naughty Lumps- From Iggy Pop's Jacket back in the Zoo Records/Eric's days, the Lumps were the Scouse New Wave band too set on having fun to be worried about being as cool as Cope or as whack as Mac. OK they were never going to be Big In Japan, but they're mahoosive in our hearts. These recently reformed mature gentlemen of punk pop know a thing or two about showmanship, smutty fun and top tunes. Fronted by a WW1 historian and a cricketer, you really couldn't make this up. For fans of Deaf School, The Members, The Boys....
Daddy Those Men Scare Me- More prosaically down to earth and utterly English in their punk rock approach, the deliriously good Daddies have been honing their Stranglers/Members/Squeeze informed crafted indeed crafty punk pop round these 'ere parts for Buggerbear since oooooh 1994, wowsers. Better than ever too, ace band.
The Benefit Cheats- Anthemic punk with a decidedly Clash feel bags of energy and conviction, hooky tunes too.
Three From Above - 'the rawness of Japanese clangorous trio Guitar Wolf to the wonderful sounds of David Bowie's 'Hunky Dory', which is being played through on Jack White's very own heavily customised guitar amp'. ..this is 3FA's summary of their sound and it's bang on, clever, enduring and alluring rock and roll.
£6.00 + £0.60 Booking fee = £6.60
Advance tickets are available. Please say which band you are mainly there to see. That makes sure that all the bands get their fair share.
Hope to see loads of you down at the Dublin Castle on Saturday!
