Welcome to a new month fellow progheads! As we begin to lay footprints in May, I decided to take yet another tangent road in my search for all things prog. Still determined to shine light on new,
not-so-new, and up-and-coming bands worthy of attention, I stumbled upon a rare find in the prog garden this week; a prog band with big talent, big names, an impressive line-up of both musicians and production staff, and a marvelous sound. This week the Concert Closet heads back home to the USA for some world-class progressive rock from Seconds Before Landing.
Seconds Before Landing ((expired link).) is a bit of a "tweak" for the Concert Closet. A prog rock project fronted by John Crispino who has guest musicians join him on each new venture. An extremely
interesting--and pretty freakin' cool--way to operate! The prog garden certainly has its share of creative thinkers and "waltzing on the edge" musicians...let us stride headlong to the buffet for a first person listen and peel back the curtain...

About Seconds Before Landing
Seconds Before Landing is the brainchild of musician John Crispino.
In the year 2010, Crispino began writing music for a progressive rock concept album, that was finished and released to critical acclaim in late 2012.
That album was titled “The Great Deception”, and it produced not only a hit song, but also a video that has been viewed by hundreds of thousands worldwide, with excerpts being used by news organizations from around the globe.
That track is titled “Welcome, To The Future”, and features King Crimsons’ Trey Gunn on Warr guitar.
Continuing with his core group of musicians, which included Gunn, along with, (expired link) Garrison on bass, Steve Schuffert on lead guitar, Maurice Witkowski on acoustic and rhythm guitar, Jamie Peck on piano and horns, and Vanessa Campagna & Carrie Jackson on backing vocals, Crispino released (expired link). 2 in November of 2013.
Although different musically from “The Great Deception”, “2”, was received favorably by both critics, and fans, and songs like “Hey Dad”, introduced an entirely new group of people to (expired link).’s diverse sounds and songs.
“Now That I Have Your Attention”, released in June of 2017, is the third, album released by Crispino, and (expired link).
This time, he has added a second lead guitarist, by the name of Eric Maldonado, and this addition has once again enhanced their sound, bringing to it, an even stronger rock influence.
July 2018, (expired link). released, "Trio Volume 1", which is their first extended play release, and their 4th recording overall. Powerful, passionate and certainly progressive.
