The Las Vegas Massacre
We chronicle history. This has always been the case. If you want an authentic understanding of the people, look at their art and their folksongs. This morning, October 2nd 2017, a mass shooting took place in Las Vegas. The Muse screamed in my head, writing the words of outrage in song. Toward the end, the song reminds the listener that there are many millions who love this country and just want peace.
Here are my words:
Las Vegas Massacre
Words and music by Patti Jo Roth-Edwards copyright 2017
It’s a sad day in hell for the demons to play
We read in the news early today
They murdered so many and they need to pay
Enough is enough, need to do more then pray
CHORUS:
The Las Vegas Massacre must be the last
Mr. Lawman, Mr. President, we’ve got your back
Color doesn’t matter, we’ll take our country back
I will fight for the Right to have liberty
Red, white and blue in the Land of the Free
They want to Resist, why not resist hate
They are against what makes America great
From sea to shining sea, there are people just like me
Masses of millions just want to have peace. CHORUS
We know who they are, they wear black masks and march
Yell down the opposition and have hate in their hearts
It’s way past time to call out their sin
Mr. President don’t let any more in. CHORUS
Let’s sing out loud and get our guns
Bullies are cowards and this will be fun
Mr. Lawman, Mr. President, you work for us
Round up the anarchists and lock them all up. CHORUS
