Across the Divide

Kind of amazing to be in my 60s and friends in their 70s and 80s. Their favorite songs are from the 1950s and their love of music influences me. I actually love the same songs, though my main influences are from the 1960s. The last song I wrote this month was published yesterday. I just uploaded it to N1M and had to laugh as I just listened to the finished song. ACROSS THE DIVIDE is very much about today in my country. The polarization of each group, sex, gender (there are currently 58 - how did that happen), politics, skin color .... NONSENSE. All of the manufactured "reasons" that fractures and divides the citizens of this country are just that "manufactured" and it is though awareness that we may see the manipulation going on by the powerful individuals pulling the strings. So, I reach out my hand in a song styled in a genre made popular during a simpler time: the 1950s. The rhymes are almost too much and yet there is a profound message, that together, we can build a bridge, then stand together and view the divide from that bridge. Looking out over the things that divide us, we can decide to choose to stand together, crossing the bridge, reaching out a hand to those who seem to oppose us and realize that in truth, we all just want to share the greatest love.

 :scream: :smirk:  :stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes: :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye: :rage: :disappointed: :sob: :kissing_heart:  :pensive: :confounded: :flushed: :relaxed: :mask:  :broken_heart: :expressionless:  :weary: :triumph:  :sleepy:
