I'm so lucky to have had music be a part of my life as far back as I can remember. I inherited my mom's 45 record collection and would sit in my room for hours playing wonderful songs from the greats of the late '50s and mid '60's era as a young girl while singing along. Growing up in the '70s, '80s and '90's I learned to appreciate a plethora of musical genres!
I write poetry and now and then - some that could probably be lyrics. (I also write a lot of political and news commentary.) I sing but mostly when I'm alone in the car. :) It's hit or miss with me regarding carrying a tune...might be better if I practiced more. I had my thyroid removed which kind of messed with my voice, too. My brother Russell, on the other hand, is the lead singer for the band Red As Blood out of Knoxville, TN. He and they are excellent! They are on N1M! Artistry runs in our family. I am a decent sketch artist and want to try my hand at painting. My brother is a better artist and photographer.
My daughter who is now a young adult is amazingly talented. She can sketch, paint, sculpt...She even makes plush characters of the characters she "dreams up". She also does some self-taught graphic arts.
I do have a good ear for music, lyrics, and composition. I hope to be able to give constructive advice to artists and to positively influence others on N1M.
