The Old Ones review
Hi Mike... You obviously know how to play guitar. Your song actually takes me back to the '70's when progressive artists and bands had the freedom to record songs that expressed their emotion. I feel this is the same with you in this song. I loved the various directions you take the listener and was disappointed when it was over! The progressive bands were the prime reason songs went to 5, 6, even 10 or 20 minutes to their creations. Keep with this style... it will be back in fashion shortly! Thanks!

Rythmic
I would describe this tune like a cool mix between Kansas intrumental parts and cool rythmic wibe from Santana. I specially like the percussion parts in the song and maybe thats why I get to think Santana. Really cool harmonies in the guitarparts. Nice song.

Surprising Guitar
Mike Harty has proved that progressive rock is more than alive, and with his smart composition of guitars he succeeds with great quality in what he wants to show in his song The Old Ones. It is pretty clear that the influence of Satriani and Steve Vai runs in his veins and fingers and we would love to have some more from him.

It’s like yes,rush and ,older genesis mashed up. Everything but the kitchen sink. Comes on gang busters with lazer guitars blazing barely letting up to catch a breath before pushing down the plunger again to Lambaste the listener in sonic sunbeams divebombs of color and textures of string theory. Definitely a show that never ends my friends this is your monies worth if you’re into slicker guitars and tricky time changes. A slingshot around all of your Jeff beck memories of high energy over radiation addictions of sly pedalboard effects.

Flashing guitar!
The Old Ones by Mike Harty has surprised me not just with the quality of the sound production but also for the amazing composition of the guitars and the whole schema if the composition. The only thing to improve the end of the single, the idea is quite good but it’s a shame that it disappears so abruptly.

Mike Harty : Is he the new John McLaughlin?
Mike Harty is clearly an extremely talented guitarist. His song, “The Old Ones” is clearly reminiscent of the early John McLaughlin Mahavishnu Orchestra. When I say “reminiscent” I mean just that; not a copy but rather an homage. Mike combines his dual harmony lead guitars with and infectious beat while maintaining a kind of Indian drone background. Something really different and expertly executed.

Interesting song. I do like all of the guitar candy on this song but there is an extra amount of stimuli going on on this track. I believe if you keep it more simple with the main solo guitar and a limited rhythm section you would get your point across more clearly. it's like having 4 or 5 lead singers trying to compete for the solo you know what I mean. Great use of the whammy and a cool melody. Great recording ..

Not Bad
There isn't much I could suggest to improve this song. It is fine. I could see this music being used in a movie or TV show. If you want to give this song mass appeal and perhaps get it played on the radio maybe you could add some female backing vocals. I like the length, too. Not to short and not running at a boring four plus minutes unlike a lot of the music on numberonemusic. Keep up the good work.

Mike Harty is a real melomaniac!
This instrumental song that Mike Harty offers us, is an exercise of pure and hard virtuosity, very framed in the progressive rock sound of the seventies and very early eighties, where you can notice references to groups like "Yes - Close to the edge" or "Rush - YYZ ", could be perfectly the version of some group of that time (and that I don´t know right now). The thing is that Mike brings us that vision with a very cool sound on his part. I loved the track, it has rhythm, frenetism and strength. The instruments are perfectly synchronized, the only thing that is missing is a better audio production (but maybe that would take away that vintage aura that has the track, so better not). Congratulations sincerely, very cool. Today I have heard it 7 times hehe. OSMÜGA

In Consideration (Mike Harty)
I found Mike's Music on request . The piece in question has no title that I could see . Initial thoughts were of rock genre /movie ..depicting a chase. As I listened via my phone speaker the piece in question appeared to be computer synth generated . The Rythm consistent within the piece and building to a relaxed crescendo as an instrumental . It sounded somewhat thin and tin like : I do not know Whether this is intentional or as a result of composition method. The melodic content unravels as a chase Suggestive of a high speed pursuit . There are a lot of layers in this piece and it requires a few listening's to realise it's symphonic complexities . I would recommend that one listens more to Michael's music as it has a somewhat impressionistic quality. Definitely guitar influenced in parts though not confined or limited by any instruments limits . I have a feeling that there is a lot more to discover than at first glance and at a risk of repeating my opinion ...play on . Sincerely Dq

hi mike - i've had a listen on your track. i am multi-composer running my own publishing with a global b2b distribution. so what i can say about our track. good recording quality and you're definately a profilic guitar player - no question. songidea & songwriting generally is OK. solid material, even mainstream demand & trends are way different today - and that's the point i can't use it here for my purposes. so it just depends what goals/targets you're looking for. unfortunately not of use for my company. either way - thanks for pitching & best of luck iIke

Mike Harty has a Interesting Instrumental here!
I just listened to "The Old Ones" by Mike Harty and found it to be interesting in that Harty does some marvelous guitar work on it. My problem is that it is only one chord, and I would find it more satisfying if there were some changes to take this listener somewhere beyond. I would recommend adding some breaks to the piece to give it even more life. But again, great guitar playing, Mike ... keep it up!

Film music
An uptempo instrumental cool piece. Could probably be used in a film secuence. It also has a bit retro aura and reminds me of some tv shows back in the seventies. However a change of key might be good. It´s always a challenge to work with some of the sampled software, but it should be possible to open up the sound more to avoid the mix and mastering not to sound to compressed. I have listen to some of the other tracks as well and my personal opinion is that in general I think it sounds a bit to compressed. But anyway. You got some great stuff going, so keep on rockin. Please apologize my delay. I find your composition interesting. It sounds very good and I realize you put a lot of work in it. This genre is not my speciality but anyway music is music and I enjoid listen to it. In my opinion, I feel the need of a certain change along the song to a different tune in order to create a climax that pulls you out the main melody so when it gets back to it, it powers up the song. Similar to the structure of a movie. Anyway, keep up wit the good work and wish you all the best. Regards. Chris

One of the things I enjoy most about Number One Music artists is the newfound ability to hear music from around the world by singers who I'd never have the chance to listen to otherwise. That, in itself, is a great thing. Here, with this song it's a great instrumental that I'm not sure why it's not going in any direction except repeat. Where are the vocals? This would be a killer track, for example, Heart.
