About Dark Oz
Combining the terseness and angst of 90s plaid-clad guitar rock with the jingle of 60s garage pop, Dark Oz describes itself as "garunge." It has gone through multiple mutations, beginning as a solo acoustic project and then going through a markedly punk-induced intense period of recording and touring with Lorien Bourne ((expired link). Styx) on drums before reverting to a solo acoustic act after her death.

Firstly, I just wanted to thank all of you for subscribing to the Dark Oz mailing list. As some of you know, the past few years have been difficult for Dark Oz due to the death of Lorien 'Styx' Bourne, drummer for Dark Oz. She passed away from complications associated with Turner Syndrome while Dark Oz was touring a few years back. She left behind some great music, though, which became the ¡Piratas! EP, the first three songs of which I have made available here on numberonemusic. If you like what you hear, I'd encourage you to buy the album (I was about to upload another song, but they want me to "upgrade" my membership for that). The proceeds will go to Turner Syndrome Society of the United States to fund research and help those who have lost loved ones to this disease. You can purchase the album here or through iTunes:

Finally, I'm pleased to announce that Dark Oz now has a proper new lineup with Miguel Rivera on drums and Geoff Unger on bass. For those of you in the Portland, OR area Dark Oz will be playing its first show with the new lineup on April 14, 2017 at the (expired link). Room. That night is my birthday, and I'd be soo happy to meet any of you who can make it.
