No Heart

I enjoyed the start, the right in your face distortion power chords, steady drum beat, I like where you are taking this, this kind of conversational lyric presentation works, and the repetitive progress of song and chord structure works. reminiscent of "Pawn Shop" by "Sublime". What I am hearing is a mastering of the vocals and instrumentation has not been completed, there is lack of compression in the overall mix, so it still feel unpolished. I feel the vocals needed more effect, and were moving away from the melody, whereas Leonard Cohen can get away with this, but then he is a "Poet Laureate", these lyrics aren't that caliber of writing which is fine. These lyrics are closer to "The Circle Jerks", teen angst approach. I would encourage this song be rerecorded, there are some spots where the drummer could add a fill or an accent that would signal the beginning or ending of a verse. That would move the song forward. As of now it just stays steady as a metronome, no excitement or energy. The vocals need some work, the words are clear but you could sustain at the end of phrases, and the "No Heart" delivery doesn't have any drama so if you are not paying close attention it will go right by. It really needs to be emphasized. Maybe doubling that line "Lou Reed" played it rough and simple, but listen to his phrasing, he hit you right on the head without pushing it. I would add more effect to the synth solo, maybe the drum could move into a 12/8 or syncopated at that point and focus on the bass drum, trap, and high hat. The bass really need to be present here, not busy but powerful. Listen to Bad Company's Bass work or Cold Play, simple but very present. The guitar work is consistent but it sounds like you are holding back, playing it close, at some point though the guitarist really ought to spice it up with some kick'in riffs, maybe at the outre. I like the overall mood of the song and message. This feels more like a scratch track. Before you demo it, really have it mastered by a pro. It is worth every penny.

In MY Opinion

Greetings, Thank you for choosing me to review your work, I count it an honor to be included in such a task. My hat is off to you and anyone willing to step out and share their gift, talent and love of music to the public. Be it a musician, singer, song writer, actor and so-on. I myself, via 40 some years of experience in the fields, on the road, in the studio, radio, TV, video, and management, consider myself to be a seasoned musician, singer, song writer, studio-sound tech/engineer/ owner/operator, stage manager, find it sometimes hard/difficult and perhaps not even fair to sit in a seat, voicing My Opinion concerning another's creative efforts. Especially in certain genres of music I am not all that familiar with concerning very important elements that make up and meet the required standards to justify the various levels of ratings and grades. So, in saying ALL that, I will limit myself to MY Opinion concerning the quality of the work according to My ears, and the standards I have been familiarized with thru-out the years. I hold to the old - saying " Beauty Is In The EAR of The Beholder ... LOL. The sound quality of the recording over-all is very crisp and bright and clear, I really enjoyed the guitar work. Vocals are smooth. The mix levels let me know who was still in charge of this song. Very easy to sit back and listen to. I mean no offense in any part, I myself take all feedback and use it as a tool toward my next project. I pray you feel the same way. Either way, I say to you, keep doing what you do, keep kicking and enjoying what you do. I tell folks all the time for many years. When it stops being FUN, then it's time to stop, and stand back and think about what we are doing, why we are doing it, how we are doing it, what we and others are getting out it. Is it what we want, and how we want it. IF NOT. what are willing to do from there? Thank you again for asking MY OPINION. Johnny

No Heart review

This is actually a pretty cool song. I like the arrangement and the different textures of the instruments throughout the composition. I would only suggest that you find a pro studio and have this done professionally. Your mix could be done better and your vocals definitely needs to be done properly. Don't get me wrong. I like the vocals. They just need to done recorded better to compliment the song. Other than that, it's a really interesting song you've written and you should do it justice and find a real studio to get it done right! You'll thank me later for that suggestion. Keep writing!

Good song

Hey guys. It's spiceypete here. Wow. You must have been feeling quite bad when you wrote this song: It's quite a desperate song, but, hey, life isn't easy. I adore the guitar, I love the synths. The instrumentation of the song is good: you have a unique sound and certainly your voice, Cary ?, has a unique timbre. As according to me... you guys have great potential. But there is something wrong with the composition of the song, namely: It ends too abruptly. I believe that a good and nuanced composition of a song really makes the difference. In a way it's a bit like creating a mathematical parametre. If you let the song fade out, or like repeat the chorus near the end, it will linger on in listeners'heads more easily. Nevertheless: I'm a fan of yours and I'm very curious for more of your work

buona volonta'

tanta buona volontà' di suonare e cantare e comporre musica pero' il cantante deve fare un po' di scuola di canto e la musica e' sempre ripetitiva pero' non scoraggiarti e divertiti cosi' alla tua maniera questo e' il mio parere !

jazzy fun feel

I looooove the guitar parts someone can play I liked the song but I think there’s too much empty space? Like pauses , between your parts maybe add a bridge ? but I like how it came in and faded out

Good tune!

I like this song. For one thing, I found it easy to hum-along with it, even though I’d never heard it before. Also, the lyrics are clever and truly have a ring of truth to them. I found myself tapping my foot with the beat. Good stuff!

Impressive lyrics from the heart

A typical feature of rock music are direct lyrics. The songtext tells us melancholic stories about life and the development of events, but the whole composition is more various. The e-guitar accompanying carry the song quite well and the keys in the backing bringing more interest into the music. Also the drums and bass make this song complete. All instruments stand out and the mixing and mastering is already good. The guitars are exactly where they should be on a track of this quality. The singer has a vulnerable voice and the chorus make the song engaging for me. Perfect recording overall good arranged. Listen to the song and I´m sure you will like to add. Let others know your recommendation.

Acid rock

The acid rock sound is fast electronic, there's a mix of influences in this song and this is very positive. The rhythm is modern and not aggressive, so I think that this is an interesting job.

I dig

The song overall was worth listening to for sure. Solid rhythm section right off the bat, the opening guitar riffs and bass lines sound cool together. Not sure how many times i can listen to that voice though. I hear the delay on it. I'd have a lill fun with some harmonies and backup vocals. Maybe that's just not this song though. I would probably be inclined to listen to more from this artist, to see if the rest of the their songs sound like this (vocally). The actual lyrics made me chuckle, so that worked.

Sad but true

I really dig this. I can totally relate to these lyrics. The music and melody are great! Very catchy. I was bobbing my head the whole time. "I have no friends and that's ok. More money for me on payday." was my favorite line lol. Only suggestion is I would tighten up the vocals otherwise pretty cool song. Good job man!

Divertida
