About Black Cherry Band
Founded in early 2004 as a rock-cover band, over the span of ten album releases, BCB’s sound has adapted and changed with the musical diversity of performers to a combination of rock, blues and jazz.
The band has performed many clubs, bars, fairs, festivals, special events, curling bonspiels, charity events, sporting events, Canada Day celebrations, opening appearances for larger acts such as The Jeff Healey Band and The Five Man Electrical Band.
In 2012, BCB released their first Christmas album entitled Christmas Comfort and Joy. The profits from this album were donated to the Wild Bird Care Center in Ottawa. The album sold out in less than 2 weeks. With the success of Christmas Comfort and Joy, BCB decided to try their hand at a full-length Christmas album. In 2013, A Tree for Christmas was launched. The 9-song CD, with the exception of O Holy Night, showcases new and original Christmas music written by Rob Letourneau.
In 2007, a song from the band was chosen as the theme song for the Ottawa Fat Cats Baseball Team and was played at the Ottawa Baseball Stadium.
The band has performed for various charity organizations and prides itself on the work done for them over the years. Such great charity organizations such as the Ovarian Cancer Walk of Hope, The MS Bike Ride, The Relay for Life, The Orleans Parade of Lights for the Ottawa Fire Fighters, TealFest for Ovarian Cancer Research to name a few.
Presently, music from Black Cherry Band can be heard on the short film The Map and the full-length feature film The Tablet. Both films were written, directed and edited by the drummer, bandleader and main songwriter Rob Letourneau. More music will be showcased in the upcoming feature film from Songwind Studios titled A Double-edged Sword. The film is set to release in the fall of 2020.
The music of the band has been played on many radio stations across the world and is available on this web site or through a variety of music web sites such as CD Baby, iTunes and many others.
