Circus Childs

Hey Frankie, I love to listen to your voice, and your style is like the Brit Ed Sheeran but with a bit of Folk Ballad. Gentle guitar instrumental and drums is perfect for this lyric. It has a 70's tone to it and the harmonica solo is a great addition. A surprising ending which reflects the chaotic life of a circus audience and performance. Creative and innovative expressive of days gone by and by, but current too for the market because your genre is coming back in like the Spoken Word Genre. You have a wonderful way of phrasing your lyrics and painting a picture with your words like a Bard of the old Irish singers who entertained the village with their folk ballads. I hope you keep producing music.

Intimate music, mellow early 70's singer - songwriter type music. reminiscent of Melanie, or Leo Sayer's early music. It felt like lyrically the music wanted to say more. I like where this is going but then the story left me wondering more about what else was going on. Who was the singer, a friend, a son, an appreciative audience member or a passerby in life respectively sharing a moment. And the Circus childs..., what is the back story? In a few words this writer can say much, good with a lyric, maybe leave one of those "la, la" verses out and satisfy the listener. When you look at a song like George Harrison's Apple Scruffs in it's simplicity you see a complete picture. This was a good production and the lyric moved but it did not grab you. The melody was fine though it wasn't strong. (though not every song has to be). Listen to Todd Rundgren's "Why Can't We Be Friends" and you'll hear an easy melody with some interesting turns, as well as anything by Paul Simon or Van Morrison. The layering of instruments was fine but the mastering could have been more concise per measure. Sometimes the quality of the vocals and instruments were woven too closely and the story itself got lost. This type song requires the lyrics to be clearly heard throughout. I enjoyed the ending, colorful, imaginative and rich, though I feel better mastering would really clarify the details of your conceptual close. Very good, just a few touches and I think you've got something. .

Hello Frankie My opinion is that your vocals are to soft for the tune and the instruments over ride your voice so not a good mix. I'm not sure what all the lyrics you are singing as they don't sound as clear as they possibly could have. I hear that the chorus mentions a child's clown, hence the song title...Anyway having said all that I like the idear that it is an easy listening song and it does have a commercial sound for radio. Thank you for sharing and all the best with you musical journey... Cheers Johnny from Melbourne Australia

An interesting sound

There's an interesting mix of music genres in this particular song, from country to the rockabilly, the guitar is very well played as the chorus, the song communicates happiness and the sound is original.

Sweet little song!

Loving this beautifully written song. Sweet story that just flows beautifully and is so captivating. The harmonia is a bonus at the end along with the circus instruments. Very clever. Just magic!

Review Circus Child Frankie Rose Duffy - By LaSueede

Happy start and a nice soft beginning with soft Guitars and and acoustic sound. The drums is little thin feeling more adapt to jazz then to this nice tune. The Acoustica gives a nice layer for the song and i also like the flute but it lose it to much in the end of the song. The malesong sings with a soft voice but the layers in the secons verse get a little out of tune and the chorus with the female background song makesit a little out of tune. Better with only a male voice i believe. There is also a little tension in the chorus refrain. but in general it is a good tune but as i wrote the ending is not good. To much confusion there. Try to shorten it little and take away the out of tune female in the chorus (maybe) another drum layer more natural, native drums. Some suggestions and love and light from LaSueede

bonita

In MY Opinion

Greetings, Thank you for choosing me to review your work, I count it an honor to be included in such a task. My hat is off to you and anyone willing to step out and share their gift, talent and love of music to the public. Be it a musician, singer, song writer, actor and so-on. I myself, via 40 some years of experience in the fields, on the road, in the studio, radio, TV, video, and management, consider myself to be a seasoned musician, singer, song writer, studio-sound tech/engineer/ owner/operator, stage manager, find it sometimes hard/difficult and perhaps not even fair to sit in a seat, voicing My Opinion concerning another's creative efforts. Especially in certain genres of music I am not all that familiar with concerning very important elements that make up and meet the required standards to justify the various levels of ratings and grades. So, in saying ALL that, I will limit myself to MY Opinion concerning the quality of the work according to My ears, and the standards I have been familiarized with thru-out the years. I hold to the old - saying " Beauty Is In The EAR of The Beholder ... LOL. The sound quality of the recording over-all is very crisp and bright and clear, I really enjoyed the guitar and harmonica work.Think about a solo break to step away from vocals for a short period. Vocals are smooth and natural, sort of - down to earth as they say. The mix levels let me know who was still in charge of this song. Very easy to sit back and listen to. I mean no offense in any part, I myself take all feedback and use it as a tool toward my next project. I pray you feel the same way. Either way, I say to you, keep doing what you do, keep kicking and enjoying what you do. I tell folks all the time for many years. When it stops being FUN, then it's time to stop, and stand back and think about what we are doing, why we are doing it, how we are doing it, what we and others are getting out it. Is it what we want, and how we want it. IF NOT. what are willing to do from there? Thank you again for asking MY OPINION. Johnny

Optimistic song with deep feel

Great live studio recording where all instruments of the band really stand out. Gentle acoustic based song carried by several string instruments, like an open tuned guitar, banjo and ukulele. The intro feels like a story and makes the meaning of the song engaging for me. The romantic passion of the lyrics comes from the heart and touches the soul, but the whole arrangement is more various. The music starts softly with harmonically melodies accompained by slow beat of the drummer and smooth bass-lines, are additionally enought to make this recording complete. Frankie Rose Duffy sings with an unique voice and brings a distinctive feeling into the song. This song is from a musician with a great talent to give an account in words about someone or something, including all relevant characteristics, qualities, or events. The chorus is impressive and has a important message. Perfect composition influenced by folk with country music elements in perfect orchestration. The end of this song keeps a little surprise ready and I´m sure you will like to add him. Let others know your recommendation.

Easy

I love the ease of this tune... it's very pleasant to the ears from the count off through the chorus up to the end. The drums sit back in the mix nicely. The dobro, one of my favorite instruments by the way, is very tasteful. I like the voice too, something about it reminds me of Donovan only smoother and better. The bit of harmonica creeping in toward the end of the song is a nice touch as well. Keep up the nice work

well done, good song!

It's a nice and sweet song, delicate and peacefull. maybe a bit too long, especially towards the end where the chorus is repeated. (I'm French, so I'm really sorry if my English is not perfect) Technically, the balance between different instrument is good.
