Yung Black/God Po, born (May 10,1992(22 years old)) Darren Horton to LaShawn Horton and Lawrence Paige (deceased since 1996) in Detroit,MI. Raised on both the west and east side gave Po the advantage of seeing life from both sides. Being so dark in complexion and always being the youngest hanging around, He was given the name Yung Black. Educated through the charter school system of Academy of Detroit, Po grasped at knowledge and leadership at a young age. Losing his father at the young age of 4, Po was already at a disadvantage like most youth of his generation and city. The day after the death of his father Yung Black wrote his first constructed song to the beat of "Dear Mama" by Hip-Hop legend Tupac Shakur. Influenced by the older music of the 80's & 90's YB quickly differentiated himself from other artist in his bracket. Specializing in performance, aggression and lyrical ability it isn't hard to see the truth and realness in everything Yung Black has to offer. YB, grew his confidence and name competing and involving himself in cyphers, battles and even features throughout Detroit. Inspired by a mixture of greats like 2pac, Jay-Z, Drake, Rakim, LL Cool J, Slick Rick, Snoop Dogg, Kendrick Lamar even Wiz Khalifa and NEWCOMERS like Childish Gambino & Chance the Rapper God Po sounds nothing like anything you've ever heard. Drawing inspiration from the low income and drug induced environment he has become a product of, he strives and chases his own vision of greatness and success. In 2013, Yung Black dropped a compilation via @DatPiff called "Come Out Party Vol.1" ( (expired link) ). Feeling let down by the low recognition and numbers to the tape YB contemplated his future in music. Wondering if he could ever escape the box of Detroit or his haunted past of failure and disappointed, it didn't seem likely to ever happen. In 2014, inspired by the crime and depression of Detroit, MI he dropped another compilation entitled "Motor City Bluez" ( (expired link) ). Once again not receiving the recognition and acknowledgment he feels deserved the mixtape didn't reach its full potential. He began to fade into the background to better perfect his craft alone and very closely. Not knowing what was next he continued to drop singles on Souncloud and other social networks. Now feeling like no one is in his lane or capable of fabricating it he calls himself God Po. Falling in line with his self made movement #BlackGodz. Still feeling heaven sent to the world to do music, he adapted the name "Godz Prodigy". Now working on a new compilation entitled "Here I Go (The Introduction of a Different Breed) he hopes to build a solid foundation of #Believers in him, his music and movement "#BLACKGODZ". With undeniable talent and never ending, agressive raw lyrics, I feel its safe to say we'll be seeing a lot of him. GET READY WORLD!
