While going thru my vast record collection, I re-discovered The Cables "Baby Why". Keble Drummond (lead), Elbert Stewart (baritone), and Vince Stoddart (tenor). Released on Coxsone. Now listening to this cover again brings my soul up to par. Great instrumentation, leads & harmonies. Very clear on the leads and resonating horn lines. I am so thankful that many are re-creating these almost forgotten gems from Jamaica. Mass respect to Wurl Rootz Band and keep the covers coming. Would love to see this band perform in the states.

This band has a brilliant sound judging from the track, Baby Why Straight mix. We already know Kingston hot and so is this tune.. A well-organized track with full body sounding nothing short of some of the original Ska riddims of earlier Jamaican times..Not only is it musically sound but the singer's vocals is also to be admired.

Well crafted song,tight rhythm section and sweet horns punctuate this solid grrovy mix,love the sweet lead guitar coming in every so often. The vocals are strong amd tasty with nice background harmonies, Awesome!

I like this version of the Heptones originsl..love the ska treatment which is rare for Jamaican bands these days..good lead vocal and the harmony vocals are not too bad eirher..good mucianship all round

True justice was done to this old classic Sca/Rocksteady tune.Music was well put together almost capturing the ambience and of the old grammaphone my parents used to play that song on with their 45 rpm vinyl.Vocals was soulful and on point and the groove was in the pocket. This song is a true documentation of how it used to before as Reggae was in it's transition from Mento to Ska then Rocksteady. This was a favorite of folks based in England.

Yes, this is exactly what it says it is! Ska music on really good level. The tempo, tone and arrangement was pure Ska music. The lyrics and melody blended perfectly in the way of this genre of music. The singer and the musicians did a wonderful. I really ful-joyed the whole thing.

Baby Why Straight Mix review. this song is a strictly Reggae ska piece in the highest sense of the word. everything sounds in Reggae style as I said everything recalls the Reggae genre. personally it is not my favorite genre but I can give you a musical judgment that is certainly positive because all that there must be in a Reggae piece in your piece is therefore complimented and continues. good job
