Terence 'T. Jahz' Lewis
Songwriter, Composer, Arranger, Producer T. Jahz is a notable Toronto Blues & Jazz Afro-Caribbean-Soul musician with astounding credits - two time Juno Award winner as co-composer in collaboration, and has worked with a list of illustrious artists. As well he recently released his first full length CD, "Love Essential", Produced by Maestro, Mr. Eddie Bullen, who collaborated on "Can You Hear me Now". All vocals by Sherie Marshall.
His music will delight you and enlighten your soul with beautiful melodies and lyrics that touch deeply and make your heart want to sing - thoughtful rhythms to snap your fingers and move your feet. T. Jahz brings together a collage of cultures and musical styles - Soul, Jazz, Soca, Funk, Gospel, Reggae and Afro-Caribbean.
Born in Antigua, West Indies into an early musical life of Pop, Gospel, Jazz and Island melodies, the family moved to Canada when T. Jahz was just a teen. Schooling included the Grant McEwan Performing Arts College, Edmonton Alberta, training with George Koller (contrabass), Charlie Austin (keyboards) and Bob Cairns (guitar). Many projects stemmed from his professionalism and diversity.
He plays bass/guitar and percussion. He is a band leader, musical director, composer,
collaborator and songwriter.
T. Jahz has played and recorded with the Cougars (featuring Jackie Richardson and Jay Douglas), Jackie Gabriel, Bobby Curtola, Bruce Cockburn, Arthur Conley, King Curtis, Solomon Burke, The Presidents, Parachute Club, Shakura S'Aida, Main Ingredients, Percy Sledge, Charity Brown, Dianne Brooks, Stratavarious, Willie Williams, The Blackburns, Roscoe Gordon, Carlton Vaughn, Crack of Dawn, Eddie Schwartz.
