| Bio of the Artist |
The Spins is an Italian female fronted pop band created by Alessia Mattalia in March 2004.
Along with the most renowned female Italian drummer (by the way, the one ever featured by MODERN DRUMMER magazine in June 2001 issue), the band consists of Marcello Giordano on keyboards and bass (co-author of I WISH YOU, theme score of DEMO, the most followed Italian radio programme about indie music), the lead vocalist and producer Valentina Gautier (also songwriter for such artists as Chris Rea), French percussionist Eric Thomas and Mario Pignatelli, lead guitarist of Candymen, official Italian Toto tribute band.
In April The Spins recorded their first 5-songs EP, which has been released on April 15th, 2005 by Dutch label Dying Giraffe Recordings.
The title-track single charted in December 2004 in the Top100 of RadioWaveMonitor for Dance/Techno Format (26 weeks in the chart, higher position #16). After their first successful UK tour in November 2005, the band will begin in January the recordings of their new album, which will be produced by “the king of drum clinics” Thomas Lang. |
