Bio of the Artist
The Rails formed in early 2002 covering songs by the Beatles, Greenday and The Strokes, but it was Christmas of that year when the band begun to shine by bringing 2 originals to their live show. The songs went down so well with audiences that they began writing and recording more than ever before, and earned themselves great praise and approval from audiences all over Ireland, when they were complemented on their upbeat and energetic songs and live performances.
In summer 2003, Edel Dooley on Beat FM began using one of their first songs, "The Other Side" as the title track to her Irish Beats radio show, and after many calls from listeners they were invited down for an interview where they played a few songs to great feedback. They have also gotten airplay on 2FM, Today FM and Phantom FM, and on the go for over 2 years, have begun to receive interest from many independent record labels, aswell as majors such as Sony Records Ireland.
Other achievments include being included on a compilation CD of up and coming bands from around the world, and being listed on a website of top Irish Musicians, along with The Frames, Damien Rice, The 4 Of Us, Mundy and many others.
They have recorded an album entitled "The Hermit Age" and recently recorded their debut singles, "The New Guy" and "Something in your Eyes" with Gavin Blake, who has also worked with The Thrills, Ash, and many more of Ireland's top bands.
They continue to write, record, and gig all around Ireland, and their new material has been described as getting stronger all the time.
