| | | | | | | | | | | | Bio of the Artist | Intelligent, contemporary rock and roll, tinged with influences as varied as The Beatles to Billy Joel and many points in between, the Hucks have a distinct personality all their own. The music is a blend of pop, country rock, classic rock and the occasional touch of the absurd. With melodious arragements, well crafted chord progressions and infectious rhythms, the Hucks will surprise and entertain you.
Formed by Tim Spainhower and Mike “DrLunk” Head in 2000 as a studio project band, the duo completed seven project albums of 78 original compositions, mostly penned by Tim, and available online as the “Official Underground Anthology”. In 2005, deep into the recording of the eighth project, the decision was made to evolve Huck into a full performance band. Tim recruited Jim Della Rocco (drums) and John Allen(lead guitar), with whom he had worked with in cover bands and various other recording projects.
Recorded at DrLunk’s Wretched Nit’s Studio and Jim’s Toyland Studio, Heart of Stone was released in January 2006 as Huck’s debut CD. With strong vocals, rhythm guitar and keyboards by Tim, diverse percussion by Jim, snaky blues/jazz leads by Jim and the occasional caliope and OpenG stylings from DrLunk, “Heart” is a complex mixture of four decades of Pop and Rock. From the cool jazz feel of the Rhodes piano on “Unused”, the whirling Hammond organ of “Emeralds On The Waist”, the ominous caliope of “Mistreated” and Pepperesque layering of “Happy Johnson”, Heart of Stone presents an ever shifting and evolving sonic landscape. Could Indianapolis be the new Liverpool of The Midwest?
