Apocalypse Moon Review By Peter T. Newton

You can always tell if a song is good by playing it simply. This stella performance of Apocalypse Moon captures the perfect balance of warm acoustic guitar and strong vocals. Lyrically it's hard but beautiful, soft but uncomfortable and makes me think of Aztec pyramids and the dirty business of mining. The highlight of the track is the vocal delivery. It has phrasing and subtlety that really seals the deal for me. Great song, worthy of your time !

Hello, First let me start by saying that I review with a definite slant towards commercial viability. Can the song be pitched / placed with an established artist? The other option is from the artistic point of view..(with you as the artist)... then it's either liked or it's not. There are lots of strong visual images in this song... Descriptive and very detailed.... That's a good thing...Well done!. Having said that I'm not sure how all the imagery relates back to the hook..... Apocalypse Moon... If it were me I might see if there was a better way to tie your images back into the your hook or come up with a phrase the works better in your estamation. You may not want to head in this direction but if you someday want to try and place your material..... it's not a bad thing to have a single idea that all the lyrics lead towards. One possible suggestion would be to check out some of your favorite artists and see how the utilize this concept... There's a wealth of material out there and the best part is .... it's free. Melody works and prosody is good.... Understanding that it's only a guitar voice demo I might still look for a musical interlude in order to break up the verse / chorus sections. This a nice start but now the hard part comes into play... the re-write.... Good luck and Keep Writing! RW

A good performance for a a good song. With the right band and arrangement this song could really explode. There is just enough here to let a producer really turn it into a winner. It would work best with a harder rock sound

Well being a singer-songwriter myself I respect the fact that he's trying to get a message across but as much as I wanted to understand what it was still that sure is it about blood diamonds from Africa or is it about chopping heads off or is it about some type of evil regime or government forcing people to work in cutting their heads off if they refuse to work at the diamond mines but then again I heard something about the crops that baby think that they may be dealing with farmland or maybe he's referring to diamonds as crops I'm not sure it has a nice mystical mysterious haunting melody which kept my attention but the chorus needs to be brought up more often and remember a beginning a middle and an end to it so his voice as good quality and towed and I think this song has potential and I wish of the best

Good Hook Line, Okay Song

The hook line: "Technology has given us a lot of choices, but it took away our voices" is a really good, both melodically and lyrically. The guitar work in the song is also very pleasant to listen to. And though I thought the song as a whole was doomed to be cheesy from the get go, I ended up liking most of the lyrics and definitely approving of the overall message. Very clever phraseology in there. Need to work a little on pitch, though. Your voice has potential, so don't give up on it. Might consider a different title as well.

Like a delicious fruit ....

This interpretation and performance of the song is like enjoying a fragrant and delicious fruit ... with its crumb !!!! Very beautiful and simple musical development at the same time as it must be for it to be with the expressive proza of the loud but also of the voice ... I adore the theatricality that delays ... as well as the overblown lyricity and dramaticness, which also eases. ... I really want to get you for this joyful life and the live performance of the piece that seizes with the urgency that only great creators know to do their work ... collegues and thank you very much !!!!

So what's this all about?

I listened to this song (trying to imagine I was part of the audience since it was a live performance) - we've all been there. I have no problem with the freedom of expression and airing one's creativity, but I was left scratching my head at the end of the song - What exactly was your message? As a fellow singer song writer, every syllable I compose has a reason and a purpose. Perhaps I was having an off day, but I could not grasp the essence of what you were trying to say - even though I really wanted to. Some words were inaudible. Your vocals reminded me of The Charlie Daniels Band back in the 80s (without the harmonies and violins, of course) - but it's the vocal that is ideally suited to "tell a story". I would encourage you (for what it's worth) use your story telling ability to the best of your ability, but do not be too obscure, or you may lose your audience.

Dear vR Sarti, Well done sir. AM is an excellent song. I don't what you had previously for instrumentation or production. Interesting lyrics and music. In all aspects I would give AM an 8 out of 10. Sounds great as is, nothing to change here. Keep up the good work you are a talented singer song writer. Your voice has a unique quality, use that to your fullest advantage. Way too much bass

I understand more than anyone when you do an acoustic piece like this that you add a little more bass to get that stereo affect but there's a fine line when you hear nothing but the bass and nothing else. That's what I get here. I think the singer has good voice but don't really know because of the bass. I think the lyrics might be good but don't really know once again because of the bass. The only thing I do know is that it has a dark and depressive riff that I do dig. I say record it again without the smoke screen of the bass and let's see what ya got~

Nice song at all! Great vocals on it mixed with well guitar playing. Also the lyrics are very powerful and sung very clearly! Even I know that this is a live version, a little bit more of the audio quality would be nice - cause it would improve the listening feeling to your song! But good job, really liked it. Keep on going and you will reach a lot lot more! Best regards from Austria!
