The Asian Goat Project is from Newtown NSW, not far from Sydney. All music is written & performed by Boris Grey, though there is a much larger group at hand for both the construction of recordings and live performance.Contributors help in many various ways and they are: Daniel Gildenhuys - Bass, Irene Berry - vocals, Eddie-Hudson Ellis - vocals, Laurence Barratt-Manning - genius, Maximilian Reinthal - drums, L.A - guitars + others.
Boris spent the latter part of his teenage years in Moss Vale which is located 124 km south-west of Sydney. Since getting the fuck out of that inbred cesspool of bigots and idiots he has ventured down to Victoria, then returned to NSW and moved to the inner-west then settled in Newtown in 2009 … there he met some musical Glen Innes people who had also fled their rotten village and had mingled with some locals.
The Asian Goat Project plays heavy punk rock with sharp overtones of demented pop, new wave, industrial, drone and soundscapes. None of them have jobs so they can tour any time. They basically sound like Pixies and Bowie if they had been dragged back and forth through the desert for six years and forced to listen to Talking Heads, Stooges, Butthole Surfers, Flipper, Primus, Nirvana while being pissed on with toxic urine by Kylie Minogue, The Strokes, Daniel Johns, that fag from Nickelback and Matt Bellamy…
The Asian Goat Project has never jammed on Smells Like Teen Spirit or Louie, Louie nor have they ever tried to re-write these songs and call them their own.
The second album -Waste - has just been released. Unfortunately, the real money has been in selling organs and semen on the blackmarket… however the album appears to be selling… Be prepared ! - - dolls, lunch boxes, bed sheets and underwear are all in the making right now! Soon we will be coming to your town, to your house, asking if we can stay there for the night and if your mum could cook us breakfast and if we could use your store to sell our own bootleg records and play benefit gigs with Led Zepellin and The Rolling Stones and cover Stairway to Heaven with all our new amazing, idolistic celebrity friends singing along with us…
The new album “Waste” tells a story. There are no essential main characters, though that’s not to say they don’t exist but there is no direct mention of them. It’s a celebration of critical thinking and mindful living. A satire, a smile at the beast, a wink into the abyss, total peace and the overwhelming desire to live, to evolve, to think and to endure the old blessing and curse “May you live in interesting times.” Recommended listening as a whole. | | |
