A Class act

The first thing that crossed my mind on hearing the first few bars and vocal introducing itself was " Rufus Wainwright", a vocalist who I hugely admire so that's a good start! The more i listened I could hear other influences, the way the track has been crafted with some great changes had me thinking of the great Jeff Buckley - however, I have to be clear "Templeton" (unsure if this is a band or a solo artist - I find reviewing blind from the background biog gives a more authentic review) is not trying to be anything other than Templeton and this track is a great song, well written and well produced, beautiful vocal, great instrumentation well crafted. in a nutshell it hits all the right buttons and I cant find a single criticism, apart from the fact i think it could have been a bit longer - more like this and the right promotion and we should be seeing him/them getting to the top! It would be a crime for them not to - best thing Iv'e heard coming out of South Africa since Nelson Mandela!!

Travis You Not, But Templeton You Can Be

Travis You Not, But Templeton You Can Be, I think the best thing about this song is it has all the bits you want for a great tune, they just come in the wrong order, remember you have about 3 seconds in this remote switching generation, to grab someone's attention and hold it put the best thing out there right away and work around it, Cheers Bob

Not a bad song

Helpful

I must admit for i am truly an honest person that this song is a good song. I feel that it could be way better. The instrumental is good and clear but i couldnt make out what you were saying. Now people who listen to your music on a regular basis may be able to understand you better. Thats fine if you only want to appeal to your local supporters. If you would like to appeal to a much broader audience and grow your fan base, as we all do, then you need to unnunciate your lyrics more clearly. Most people listen to music because it helps emotionally because they can relate to the lyrics and the mood of the music. If your audience can't understand what you're saying they can't relate to it. If they can't relate they really have no reason to purchase your music. 2ndly I feel what i could understand was confusing. When writing you want to tell a big story only condendsed. Which means you take the most vivid details and break them down into a hook and 2 verses. The hook sums up the theme of the verses. Think of a concept first then write what you feel. It can be 4 pages long and thats ok. Condense exactly what you're trying to say in those 4 pages into a hook and two verses maybe even a little bridge and you've got a great song. Its not easy but practice makes perfect. A thesaurus always helps me. Using words people know but dont hear often livens up your story and your audiences energy. You have a great voice and great music with a little more work you will be at the top of your game and ready for the world! This is only my opinion. You have something good and it can be great so go for it!

Unique tunes

Helpful

The tunes of this one are rather unique - which makes it somehow difficult to identify a hook line or even a flow. I don't say this is bad, but I fear it's hard to get some sort of airplay with this obviously ambitioned composition. The recording is fine though. In some scenes the guitars seem to compete with each other, a sad one versus a happy one. A good expression of the indifferent mood we're all in from time to time. Mixed feelings.

This music sounds like it means it. A pining vocal strains over a body-pinning groove with interlaced guitars and traditional Rock underpinnings. Beguilingly honest and fresh, deffo worth a listen if you haven't heard Templeton before

Beautiful emotive lead vocal, in the line of alternative male leads of the 90’s, easily switching lanes from major to minor, emo heartfelt, great interesting song parts, crisp instrumentation. A quick favorite!

Middle road

I really like this song and feel like it is the middle road between boringly simplistic and too heavy or complicated. All the instruments serve the song and are peppered in in all the right spots. I love indie music and this is a great tune!

Exhale...breath in a girl....

This song is like a great novel, such a richly embroidered guitar instrumental, so full, so complex. The musical composition is a perfect translation of the story of the song lyrics. I heard the first chords with your voice and woke up! Listening, I found was so beautiful in the expressions of this song both musically and lyrically. I will be listening to your play list! I thought this started well, also it finished with a beautiful flourish. Very good quality of recording so I give it 5 Stars, even with the sad ending. I was watching the movie First Knight when I first heard your song. It certainly mirrored Lancelot's feelings. I'm sure there will be some silent tears from some fellow sufferers of a love lost upon hearing your song. Your song unites them in their suffering which when shared is a good thing, because knowing someone else experienced this loss makes them feel less alone.

Very unique and dynamic

Helpful

So let me start off with, not really my flavor of musical style. But that didn't stop me from listening to the end. I really liked the dynamics from soft to climatic. The musical movements were very attractive too. I couldn't make out the lyrics too well so I can't really review the songwriting, but overall, really enjoyed the musicality.

Very nice vocal and interesting pop song

Helpful

If you were to mix Eric Carmen, Roy Orbison and Thom York, (Radiohead) it might sound something like this. Not sure that's what you were going for, but I'm impressed nonetheless because you've captured a Beatlesque/Bowie Music style with the avant-garde slant toward Radiohead. This I like... but to make a true point of interest, let me say that the lead vocalist has incredible potential as a Pop vocalist. The "star quality" is there. Honestly, I would love to collaborate w a singer like this. Great hooks Well done! EG from SlimChance &The Gamblers

Great percussion

Helpful

I like the sound of this; it has unique percussion. It sounds a little busy at times, so that may be something to consider. I don't feel like there need to be so many guitar parts. I feel like the lyrics don't resolve completely but that's totally up to your vision. Overall, really engaging and interesting. I look forward to hearing more from you. This has cool direction and I'm sure future tracks will continue building on these vibes.

This is a cool song with an intriguing and distinctive vocal and lyrics. It sounds well produced with a full sound and I like the unexpected instrumental section at the end of the song, it has a great energy and feel.
