Bio of the Artist
Jazz-rock group Solution started out in 1966 as an R&B-band, Soulution. In the beginning, this group from Groningen consisted of Tom Barlage (sax and flute), Willem Ennes (keyboards), Ad Kooi (bass, in 1970 to Railway and replaced by Peter van der Sande, himself replaced by Guus Willemse (ex-Rob Hoeke). Ap Alberts (till 1966), Frits Lagerwerff (trumpet, till 1968), Louis de Vries (vocals, around 1968) and Frits Schmidt (drums, in 1967 replaced by Hans Waterman).

Solution played with bands like Gentle Giant, Everley Brothers, Seatrain, Jeff Back, ELO and was produced a.o. by Gus Dudgeon and Jim Capaldi while contracted by Rocket Records, the private label of Elton John, Gus D. and Bernie Taupin.
Solution was one of the bands that never played at 'PinkPop', the legendary Dutch festival.

Their best received album 'Cordon Bleu' was produced by Gus Dudgeon, Elton John's producer and was recorded in the Rockfield Studio's, Wales. Gus also produced also their next album Fully Interlocking.

In the meantime Disco had arrived and Solution changed to a fullblown funk-soul outfit, and recorded ‘Its Only Just Begun’ (1980). Their last studio record ‘Runaway’ (1982), was co produced by Jim Capaldi (Traffic), who co-wrote (and sung!) 'Evil Love' while the band was joined by guitarist Harry Hardholt. In 1983 the band made a farewell tour, that was released as a record, ‘Solution Live’ (1983).

2006 was the year that Solution decided to play their absolute last concerts after years of request. The recorded video was shot by friends under conditions that were not to good: it took a year to mix it to the DVD.
