Bio of the Artist
The Smokehouse Ramblers

Bluesman Tom Malafarina, bass guitar, acoustic guitar and vocals; Buddy Cleveland, harp and vocals; Steve Cocchi, acoustic guitar, keyboards and vocals.

Home Base: Berks County and Chester County areas of Pennsylvania. Tom is from Wernersville, Buddy is from West Chester and Steve is from Coatesville.

They perform covers of blues tunes by some of the best names in blues arranged to our own low-volume, down home ‘just plain fun’ acoustic style. They also play original tunes written by Tom Malafarina and Buddy Cleveland. The band features strong lead vocals as well as tight vocal harmonies along with eardrum friendly instrumentation.

The Inspiration: British, Chicago, Delta, Piedmont and Texas blues styles, Muddy Waters, Howlin’ Wolf, Willie Dixon, Eric Clapton, Stevie Ray Vaughn, Johnny Winter, ,T-Bone Walker, Duke Robillard and many others are great influences in our choice of songs.

Although the band itself is fairly new to the music scene each member of the Smokehouse Ramblers has been active in other local blues bands for many years. Tom Malafarina also performs with the Reading based Dave Mell Blues Band where he plays bass guitar and does vocals. Buddy and Steve are both members of the West Chester based band Voodoo Deville. Buddy also plays harp on occasion with the Dave Mell Blues Band. The three members share lead vocals and provide backing vocal harmonies as well. The trio performs at restaurants, private events and night clubs throughout the Berks, Lancaster, Schuylkill and Lehigh county area as well as the suburban Philadelphia area.

One of the coolest things about the band is that they are together with one reason in mind, to provide entertainment and have a passel of fun in the process. Although their sound is extremely professional they prefer not to take themselves too seriously.

The band has plans to arrange, perform and record more original tunes, and to perform wherever folks want to relax and enjoy good down home blues.
