Bio of the Artist
Music about absolutely nothing...free in a sense.

"I write about dreams of dolphins, and no friends...water, stars, the moon, the sun, and no fun...coral reefs, funny things, loud noises, cherry blossoms, a recluse, music, and ice...books and turtles...kitties and puppies...fire, clouds, rainbows, and trees..."

-the ramblings of a withered old man

Smashing Blue is a band that came out of Nowhere, Alabama, US.
Lead Singer/lead guitarist, Lakiya Hunter, 18, was somewhat dissatisfied with the American music scene.

“Everybody is either an entertainer or a comedian instead of musicians or artists.” she says.

She found solace in rock bands from Japan and other countries, classifying music as a “universal language”.

“Music has no boundaries”, she says. “If you can’t appreciate music in another language, or even simple instrumentals, then you can’t call yourself a ‘music lover’”.

Smashing Blue’s rhythm guitarist, Marc Schoenhals, 15, calls the band an “art form that wants to make good music”. He states that most of the American rock scene “sucks” because all of the songs sound the same and all of the lyrics are about the same thing.

“There isn’t any reach for new stuff,” he states. “Everything is the same.”

They came together for a common goal: the music.

“Basically we are a bunch of arty kids who are in the band at school. We live and breathe music!”
