Sharpen the Quills

Good morning from Texas,

It's been an adventurous few months for the Quills. We have a new drummer, Alfredo, who will be taking over for Andrew who is expecting twins in the next few months and will have his hands full forever...Anyways, we wish Andrew the best of luck and happiness for his family.

Alfredo has been learning the tunes, and we should be out playing shows pretty soon. We have a ton of new material as well. I've been on a writing binge for the past few months. So much so, we can hardly keep up with all the new tunes and need to prioritize them. Hopefully, we'll get into the studio soon and record some of these new songs. I'm getting bored looking at the same old songs on here and am excited to get our new stuff out. They blow the current posted tunes out of the water (in my humble opinion).

We've really appreciated the kind words that folks have emailed and messaged us. It's nice to know that our music has an effect on people. I think the whole point of music is connecting with others and yourself, and it's awesome that others can experience that in the songs that we create. I'm terrible at keeping up with this. Don't have technology to use as an excuse this time around...just life. The past few months have been incredibly productive, though. We've been practicing and writing like fiends and have around 9 new songs we're in the process of getting down. One, of several, was introduced at the first annual Spiritfest in Rio Medina, TX this past Saturday. It was a great event, and a lot of folks braved the Texas maelstrom to come out and hear some spectacular artists play. The plan is to get into the studio and get some of these new tunes recorded so they can be shared (see attached video for a rough taste). As always, we appreciate any and all feedback via email: sharpenthequills@(expired link) and if you'd be so kind as to throw a like our way on the Facebook we'd be much obliged.

We've been playing some shows and getting some new tunes together. Have 8 new ones that we're piecing together. Had a setback in March. Andrew, our drummer, broke his leg and will be out for a while. So, I've taken the opportunity to write tunes. The video is from a recent show where we had Alfredo sitting in on drums. Pretty impressive given the fact he'd only practiced with us for an hour prior to the show. As always, we love feedback. Hello from Texas! I manage this account through my phone and didn't know how far behind I was until I got a better phone. Anyways, we're still around and playing, writning new stuff, and drinking probably too much. Hi all, we've been remiss in posting a message in a while, and I apologize for that. We haven't fallen off the face of the earth but have, instead, been putting our nose to the grindstone and working on new tunes. We have about 10 right now in some form of the gestational process. Once we get those down we'll have around 30 tunes to choose from to put on a full length LP. That being said, we appreciate all the interest in our band and would love to hear from you as well.

Good afternoon from Texas! I feel bad that it is taking longer than anticipated to get the new recordings finished and posted. So, I uploaded a couple of my solo tunes onto the site and will leave them up until we get the new band tunes posted. They're a bit different...hope you enjoy them!
