Everything began at the end of the year 1997. Sacramento Band was created by brothers Gelos and Maniz and is one of the pioneering bands of the Rock in Spanish in Dallas Texas. With 9 years of life, the band is one of the few bands that touch the Caribbean style with rates of pop rock, fuzzion, salsa, meringue, ska, reggae, wapango, bolero and afro Cuban rithyms. Sacramento band is characterized by their great profits in the local scene and is the only Latin band in entering the sanctioned club Trees, located in Deep Ellum, to celebrate the Cinco de Mayo festivities. Now, the band where known as the best band of Rock en Espanol in the local level. The disappear local station 97.1 The Eagle which is 100% anglo rock granted an interview to Sacramento and played one of its songs, Guajira from their recent material title 76’ in honor of Junior Martinez, ex-bass player, who was killed.
Sacramento band has been invited by the Texas Motor Speedway to perform while the runner Adrian Fernandez sings autographs. The band has also opened concerts to legendary bands like Jaguares, Lira n’ roll and Plastilina Mosh were they have experience the energy of the people. Sacramento was invited to play in the Texas Musical Festival in the year of 2005 but for personal reasons didn’t play. Recently they have opened a concert to the greatest guitarist from the disappear band Caifanes, Alejandro Marcovich on March from 2006.
Sacramento Band had a cover with the Xpression magazine were they had very good commentaries of the band from the article “Rock without Borders” and even El Sol de Texas made an article to the band known like the well-known and supported bands on the musical local rock. Marine Hernandez, of the spectacles from Univision 23, made an interview to Sacramento that was televised in May of the 2005 making them the very first local band to be on Univision 23 local news.
Sacramento has played on the best clubs like Clearview, Indigo, Trees, Liquid Lounge, Curtain club and Galaxy club from Deep Ellum were they have been the only Latin band to play in Spanish music and were they have been supported by the local people who follow them. Sacramento is one of the favorite bands of Deep Ellum with the support of the Anglo people.
Bandas Unidas or United Bands have been a project created by the band for 5 years now. Sacramento has help the new bands who use to played on garage to clubs with quality and raise the local movement. Bandas Unidas is planned to expand these project outside the Dallas area, places like Houston, Austin, New Jersey and possibly Los Angeles. So every time you hear about Sacramento Band or Bandas Unidas, don’t miss the chance to go and check them out, you don’t want to miss these for nothing and trust me its worth it…. |
