Grant’s introduction to rock music came as as accident in 1976 when shopping in a record store with his grandfather for a kids story record, he unknowingly bought something else . Excited to bring home his purchase he listened to the narrative and realized there was no story book to follow. The story started about a speeding car and crash and then this loud music started that he had never heard before. The band was KISS the album Destroyer and the song Detroit rock city . Grant instantly fell in love with rock n Roll - he and his twin brother purchased every Kiss album they could within days and within a few short months on September 6, 1976 at Varsity Stadium , Grant, age 8 at the time, attended the Kiss Destroyer Tour with his twin brother and father. It was after this show that Grant got the bug for music but he didn’t actually begin to play an instrument till age 13. He spent hours locked in his bedroom teaching himself how to read and learn songs by ear on his bass guitar. His first band Fragile, was with his twin brother on drums and best friend Paul on guitar and vocals. Grant’s first exposure to playing bars was with a band called Strutter started in 1989. By late 1990 Grant was in a hair band Sourpuss playing covers and writing originals. They played the hot circuit of Rock’n’Roll Heaven, the Gasworks, Bedrock’s, Hotrocks and the NagsHead. By late 1991 Grant was playing in the Bryan Adam’s tribute band Summer of 69 touring Southern Ontario. During that time, the music and bar scene were drastically changing and so Grant hung up his bass for many years. In 2007, Grant was approached by his younger brother Kevin, a guitarist , to play in a cover band and so 16 years later he got back up on stage with Eyepod Shuffle. Over the years the band has reformed as Shawn Brady and The Northern Sons , a band that supports two albums worth of original material written by Shawn Brady and a vast list of rock and pop cover songs of the 70’s, 80’s and 90’s. It was at one of the gigs that Grant met Ron van der Zwan as he came up to play guitar and sing Keep on Rocking in the Free World by Neil Young.

Ron started as a drummer in his teens being taught by his late father, a very accomplished Jazz singer and drummer. This evolved to guitar and singing when he started writing his own songs. Owning Totem, an analog 16 track recording studio in the 80's sharpened his music engineering and producing skills. Co-founding several bands along the way got him signed with the Red Bullet label in the Netherlands, released several singles and toured extensively.
In the nineties the focus became Rock and Blues and Ron started a power Trio called Colourful Dreams and recorded the Album Stone combining his own new songs with Hendrix and Neil Young covers.
Ron has had many encounters and conversations with Artists which have inspired his music such as Chet Baker, Eric Clapton and Pat Metheny to name a few.

Ron played lead guitar with the Paul Price Band in Canada and the USA in 2007. Winning over audiences with soaring guitar leads from Toronto's legendary Horseshoe Tavern to the Triad theatre in New York.
