About Quantum X

Back in 2005-2006, Jen was lead vocalist for Orlando rock cover band Echoes Wake and later metal cover band Grudge, singing to covers of Metallica, Iron Maiden, Megadeth, Godsmack, AC/DC, Velvet Revolver, Motley Crue, Audioslave, and Queensryche, to name a few. The bands’ lives were short-lived, though. Soon after leaving the bands, she began writing her own music and felt the calling to write Christian-themed material. Classically trained in piano at the age of 8, she sought to fuse her playing style with the grit and edginess of rock. After working with various musicians she found online, she found drummer Marcos Sierra. They worked together for a short time but their paths later parted ways.

In 2007 Jen became pregnant yet was determined to make her first demo. Co-written and arranged with guitarist George Allan Shelton, the self-titled demo EP was born. “Finish Line” and “Only Grey” were recorded with George, bassist Will Cochran (of Almost Unknown), and drummer John Odom (of Just a Few Frogs) under the band name Quantum X. She came up with the name out of her interest in quantum physics and deep belief in “quantum faith”….quantum theory coupled with biblical principles to scientifically explain spiritual faith and how the universe reacts to our actions and thoughts. “The X in Quantum X is actually an exponent,” explains Jen. “It’s the variable measuring how much faith and power of God the individual puts in their hands and lives….put in just a little, and the output is small….put in great amounts, and the power is great.”

In the summer of 2010 Jen returned to her music after a hiatus of motherhood, and looked up Marcos Sierra again. He enthusiastically rejoined Quantum X. Guitarist Lonnie Fowler joined QX in December 2010 after answering Jen’s online ad. For the next two years QX was a regularly-gigging band, playing various clubs and events from Orlando to Daytona.
In March of 2012, Marcos left QX, so the hunt was on for a new drummer. After 2 months of auditions, QX brought in a gifted and passionate musician, Dain Weister.
Dain grew up in Massachusetts and later Central Florida, where his passion for drumming had its roots. He was discouraged to play drums by being told he wasn’t coordinated enough, but he soon proved everyone wrong by becoming lead drummer in his high school jazz/rock AND marching bands. Later on Dain played in various cover bands, and has been the lead drummer at Spirit of Joy church for the past 5 years. That’s how Jen and Dain’s paths crossed…..Jen has been teaching piano at Spirit of Joy’s Creative Arts Studio and was referred to Dain by their mutual friend, the CAS musical director.

Even though QX found their drummer, the band was still on the hunt for a bassist. Soon after Dain joined QX he contacted fellow musician, bassist Rich Robatin. He came in for a rehearsal, the chemistry and the music was right, so QX’s rhythm section was now finally complete. However, Lonnie and Rich left the band in December of 2012 for personal and family reasons. So again, the hunt was on for guitarists.
Fortunately George Allan Shelton returned to QX in 2012, better than ever, and the timing was perfect. George came back just in time to play the annual Deland Original Music Festival. George’s passion for the guitar and music started with a surprise gift on his 14th birthday, when his Mom bought him a Fender Stratocaster at Chuck Levin's Music Center in Wheaton Maryland. From that point on, George learned to play by ear and was influenced by Peter Frampton, Eric Clapton, Led Zeppelin and the Rolling Stones. George soon joined the rock band Hazard, playing events such as charity benefits, university parties at American University, and even at the local detention center in Montgomery County. George later went on to play with local band Direct Hit, working in clubs throughout southern Maryland. The band later added a notch on their belt by playing a local radio-sponsored, outdoor ampitheatre Battle of the Bands in Lexington Park, Maryland.

His career advanced even more after joining No Justice as the lead guitarist. The band was the opening act for national headliners like Tyketto, Saigon Kick, and Shotgun Messiah, touring places such as NYC’s famous CBGB's, Nick's in Virginia, the Bayou in Washington, DC, and many other clubs in the northeast George had a passion for Jackson Guitars at the time and gained the nickname of Allan Jackson Shelton. No Justice disbanded in 2002 and George moved to central Florida where he met Jen online through (expired link).

Stronger musically but still lacking a bassist, QX took time off from gigging to hone in on their new sound and develop new material. Finally in November of 2013, bassist Eddie Miranda answered QX’s online ad, auditioned, and his exemplary playing style and energy made him the perfect fit.

Eddie’s first impression with music began at an early age back in Brooklyn, NY. Growing up he played in and out of many local bands, which played wherever and whenever they could, be it on the sidewalk or the middle of the street. Later in life he joined a couple of different bands after retiring from the military in Idaho in 1994. These included classic rock cover band One Night Stand, fusion band Volcano Rising which helped Eddie cut his teeth into jazz techniques, and classic rock/jazz/blues/prog rock power trio ETC. Eddie also played for church praise bands and has done session work. When Eddie moved to Florida he joined the band Wyzard, which played modern rock/metal music and recorded an EP together.

Quantum X is a fusion of powerful female vocals, poetic lyrics, gritty guitars, hard-hitting drums, all mixed with classical piano & violin riffs threaded throughout to create a dynamic sound that is uniquely their own.

Currently QX are polishing originals "Never Said", "Stained Glass," and Evanescence cover "What You Want." 2014 promises to be a busy year of performing as well as recording.
