Bio of the Artist
From N.Ireland. Currently living in Isle of Wight. Solo songs, (sung under maiden name). Many are songs of faith and hope encouraging us to look to God in times of discouragement and reaching out to those who are hurting to draw them into the love of God.
"When you pass through the valley of weeping..." was written during "the troubles" in N. Ireland. So many people lost friends and loved ones or suffered dreadful injuries and / or emotional scars. Yet, God promised, and still promises, to make the valley of weeping a place of springs. (Psalm 84, verse 6)
"In all our sorrows" was written after a young woman in our church lost her baby late in pregnancy. It was the third time that this had happened to her and naturally she and her husband were heartbroken. The song was first sung at the baby's funeral.
"Let him who is thirsty come" is one of the most recent songs and invites us to draw near to God and to drink of the living water that He would give us. (see Revelation 22, verse 17). It reminds us too of the words of Jesus to the Samaritan woman in St.John's gospel, chapter 4. These words spoke to me so clearly when I was 19 and led me to pray that Jesus would pour His living water into me.
"He turned the water into wine" is based on John chapter 2, verses 1 - 11. Jesus can work in all our lives if we just ask and allow Him to do so.
"I want to mould you with my hands" reminds us of how God is described as the potter working with the clay. In Romans 9, verses 19 - 24 St. Paul wrote about this. God wants to make something beautiful of us.
"The Lord our God is a gracious God" is based on Exodus chapter 34, verse 6 and Psalm 103, verse 8. The whole psalm is well worth reading. "For God alone my soul waits in silence" is based on words from Psalms 62 and 63 and on verses from Isaiah chapter 51. "Just a jar of ointment" is based on events in Matthew chapter 26 and John chapter 8.
To me these songs were and still are an amazing gift. It seemed strange to me that God should choose to give them to me. I wondered why He didn't give them to someone who could really sing! Yet God gave them to me and by His grace and in His strength I sang them and sing them here. I share them here so that they may bring blessing to more people and give glory to God, the Creator.
