Review of Walking On The SeaOrganic Alt/Rock song drawing on roots and sounds from the 90's. I hear a Mix of Blind Melon and Jane's Addiction. Percussion track and bass sit nice in the mix. Vocals are mixed well and sound great! Keep on Rocking!
A different style this timeA pared down or stripped down O-NYX on this one. I like the bass on this, my compliments to the chef! But regardless of style or approach, all the usual O-NYX elements are there. Good song, playing and production.
Excellent musical workVery cool and ambient folk rock sound, very good recorded and produced. I like the harmonies and the song writing which follows the red line continuous to hold a tension till the end. Excellent musical work by the guitars and drums as well as the voice, which sounds beautiful and easy going. Everything's good here. Well done mixing and mastering. What else can I say? Keep on rocking!
Walking On The Sea...Excellent musically, great percussion with bit of a Caribbean beat. Very unexpected and surreal lyrics in this song that are sadly haunting and speak of the impermanence of human love and relationships. An excellent lead vocal talent and backup vocals. Very lively and a strong unique identity , a sound like no other I have heard in Classic Rock Genre.Keep up the excellent Signature Sound!
cavalier reviewWe liked this song, its always nice to hear this type of song. How was this recorded was it a live take or studio. When we hear this song it reminds us of our tour of Asia. Taking in countries like Thailand, Cambodia,Laos and China.
WALKING ON THE SEAWELL GIVEN THAT THIS IS AN ACCOUSTIC VERSION I COULD HEAR THE POSSIBILITIES IF THE SONG WERE PROPERLY FLESHED OUT WITH THE FULL PRODUCTION TREATMENT THERE IS GOOD POTENTIAL HERE WITH A GOOD VOCAL DELIVERY HERE AND LOADS OF SPACE IN THE RECORDING WHICH I LIKE ONE SUGGESTION CHANGE THE TITLE TO WALKING ON A DREAM WILL HAVE WIDER APPEAL AND LESS OF A BIBLICAL REFERENCE
O-NYX Walking on the sea.Spot on with the vocals, I liked the arrangement. The very first part of lead section could be a little stronger, but really like the chance up in the beat in the middle of the solos. Good job on the back up vocals also.
Nice song, with strong potentialThe song is nice, from start till end. A soft, maybe a lil long intro brings the listener to the verse, which works right away as it is. Chorus needs more push, cause in this almost acoustic version it sounds a lil too empty and Nice idea to have percussions along the main drum line, which instead may need to be varied a lil and with better fills. I hope to listen soon at a new version with a fuller arrangement, specially in the choruses. The song deserves to have a steadly growing pace, with more push in the instrumental, adding layers of guitard and maybe a pad. It really has a strong potential to become a really nice, radio ready, classic rock song!
Walking on airThe intro takes a little longer than it should to get into the song could be 4 bars shorter without a loss. For the first verse you should have an instrument playing the notes the backup singer's sing during second verse I'm thinking the bass. Sting pick up speed from there are starts to flow on its own momentum. A few notes slowed down on the guitar added to the end might also leave a stronger resonance with the listener
Your Song "Walking on the sea"I have have to say this is a nice intro and Yes the vocals sound like it makes you want to travel with some headphones on your 4 wheel drive and watch the ocean waves crash all about while drinking a couple of margaritas with smoke filling the air. Very good recording with all the members filling up the sound right in key. A Big cheers to you all. I could hear this on a movie soundtrack for sure. Keep on writing
Checking out O-NYXUpon the very first listen of "Walking On The Sea" by O-nyx, I was immediately impressed by their inventive approach to songwriting - and this song sports an especially interesting arrangement, additionally there is a terrific vocal melody on "Walking On The Sea". Very good instrumentation as well, I recommend giving them a listen, and I look forward to hearing more music from them.
Nice songHey, I liked this ritm of the song, reminds a little of surf songs ritms. There is also a variation that creates in the song a more interesting perspective. Its different from what I expected and yet better. Congratulations, nice song.
in strideO-NYX brings us Walking on the sea (acoustic 2017) a beachy kind of song. From a listener's perspective it has some very familiar aspects in the vein of John Mellencamp. From a producer's perspective there is a few moments where the mix is out of balance but the chord changes leading to the break is a welcome change in path. The offset harmony vocals are well intended but a little off tune. Its rough, but all in all a good yarn.
O-NYX!!!!!!It's always a pleasure to get to review songs from this band! They have a solid handle on melodies, chord progressions and production! The vocals are professional and right on the mark--high quality classic rock stylings. The percussion is also solid in it's foundation for the songs, which is the case again, here with Walking On The Sea. Nice guitar work! The additional bongos bring on a flavor that adds an air of excitement.
Strong, Happy SongThis is a tough one for me. I only review things I like, but after saying so, and ending so — with genuine compliments — I pick away at certain details that I think could be improved to make things even better. This is really hard to do in this case because the song, the performance, and the mix are so damned good. The second chord in the intro sounds wrong, and soon after it is repeated. Maybe it is the bass note played against it. Yes, after listening to the intro several times in a row, I don’t like that bass note, it doesn’t suit the rest of the song. The drums sound fantastic, along with the bongos/congas whatever they are. Really nice. The kick comes through remarkably clear. I don’t like the snare so much, but that is the only percussion piece that is even slightly off what I would hope it would sound like. Early on once the song kicks in, the guitar seems to be competing with the vocal for attention and prominence. As the song goes on, at some point, it is no longer true. I don’t know if a little EQ was adjusted after the first verse or so, or the lead vocal got a little louder, but earlier on I would suggest side chaining with something called TrackSpacer from WavesFactory to duck that guitar with EQ just a little bit so that the guitar can be loud and rich and still not compete directly. I do very much like that the vocal is not ten times louder than the rest of the music which is so very common. I lose all sense of the bass about half way through. The guitar solo toward the end could be more aggressive to match the rest of the song, it’s too simple and casual. I’m out of things to complain about. The song is fine as is. The vocals are strong, the harmonies are pitch perfect, the rhythm and timing of everything is spot on throughout. Maybe weaken the guitar tone with EQ a little bit to let other things shine through? I don’t care. Great song. Powerful song. Positive song. Well composed, performed and mixed. I have to complain or I feel I offer no value for improvement. You walk on water.
