About Nishood

Nishood is an artist, writer/ composer and music director whose parents where deceased when he was still at a tender age and was born in Harare Zimbabwe in a small town called Southerton and grew up in a church going extended family. Nish always had an interest in music and was well known in his family for break dancing and doing b boy skills at family parties and his relatives will give him cash for putting out a great performance. Nyasha Maruta Motsi his real name grew up as a straight A student in his classes and also was a sports man who almost participated in many activities at school, for instance in his early primary school days he was already in a percussion band playing instruments and doing vocals and from then Nyasha never stopped performing on stages. He went to many competitions and as was later anointed the primary school head boy/ captain for his great enthusiasm. Just after being anointed he started to grow in his music and started doing performances to his colleagues on talent shows or on break time you would catch him rhyming raps and the school crowd will be cheering.


This music grew deep into him that at times when in lessons he would be writing rhymes and composing tunes with his school notes especially when he went to senior school. Talking about Nishood in his senior school days, Maruta never spent much time at home or in the streets cause his family put him into boarding school because of his intelligence and always wished he would pursue to be a doctor or pilot. In senior school days Nyasha started to break new ground and finding himself anointed again as vice head boy/ captain of the prefects just in his second year at senior school and later was elected in the junior parliament and anointed police commissioner and ended his term when he finished senior school. In this period when Nish was in high school he got worse on his music and started to perform every weekend at talent shows that he organise with his interact board club, also almost every Sunday at school church service with his group alongside which he had formed and named Blaze Dem Crew, and this mostly was dancehall. This group famously known at ZRP High School with their song for the ladies on Diwali riddim was called Gal Gonna Luv You and can't lie it was a sing along to the girls. Later Blaze Dem Crew stopped and most of its members dropped the music thing because they wanted to concentrate on their studies but only Nishood was still holding on to his dream. So he went on and formed another group and he switched the game to Hip hop and rap, the group was named Exotic Ballers and that was the rebirth of MC battles at ZRP Boarding School. Nishood always used to battle out with other rap group in dormitories and at school talent shows and claim the title his the Best Rapper Alive cause his raps was on point. Over the years he connected so deeply over the years and it got to that point he hardly had time to read but do his music and boast in class that his going commercial and ain't wasting time on school any more cause he knows what he wants. This grew in him so bad that he changed from being straight A student to being a straight B student and his Uncle his guardian wasn't pleased even his teachers but Nishood had made up his mind and went to announce at home that he needs to pursue his music but it was a non starter, for he was strongly advised first finish your studies up to varsity then you can persue your music career. This made Nishood change greatly and started to think his family wasn't supportive and was greatly disappointed and changed in behaviour towards his school goals and he crushed his doctor dreams and persued his musical dreams alone. Announced to his school mates that in the near future he will be a musician well known as Nish and told everyone to be behind his back.


Later school was done and Nish went through his A Levels and finished and hit the road persueing his music career years down the line Nyasha attended school of music and studied vocals and a little piano then stopped in 4 months later without graduating his courses and went to do his 6 track first ep which he named Prelude to the game, and he launched his ep at a free mic session at a local club in Harare in Mbuya Nehanda street called Tube and from there he met David a guitarist who asked him to come and do rehearsals with him on Tuesdays and they would perform at local clubs Killimanjaro which was then opposite Kopje Plaza in Harare and Book Cafe Five Avenue from Friday, Saturday to Sunday. Nishood worked with David being a curtain raiser for him and helped David with vocals after, the experience was great for him and it seemed he was in great path then life happened. Nyasha Maruta problems with his family and he relocated to Madziva that is 200 km from Harare and stopped performing but still he was doing rhymes where ever he be. Then later moved to Cape town where he is currently based and is doing his music, shows and has collabos just like Akon but still an underground artist. He since has worked with Black Dilinger the South African reggae n dancehall don dadda, worked with a number of hip hop artists and has worked with prominent zim dancehall artists Kabidha, Bounty Lisa and not fogeting Lady Banks. Nishood has written hundreds of tracks and composing music for dancehall, rnb, Hiphop artists you name it. Since 2013 hes relocation to Cpt  Nishood has shared stages with artists like Ghetto Queen, Jesse Don well known names in dancehall South Africa circles, also shared with prominent zim hiphop artists Yunging and Kapital K, Ps Quinton the list is endless. He is currently signed as an in house artist/writer/ composer and director under Soundit Music a label owned by a prominent business man called T Stars and co-owned by his conglomerate Shadow Brothers Ent. Nishood also launch his first album under Soundit Music Worldwide named #DNA Dopest Niggaz Alive on January 3 this year (2018), so watch the space
