Back To The Old School

Hearing this music and songs is like a journey back in time, back when the music and songs had a real story and message. I am a hugh fan of the older- classic , early sounds to country and country gospel music.Mike Bryant's music takes me there. he has a natural, down home sound. Front porch and backyard traditional country to his music. The sounds I grew up with that made me like and be interested in country and country gospel music in my early years . Thanks for keeping it classic and country. Your numbers show how much so many others are enjoying what your doing. i tis folks like you and I and a very few others that help keep the original and early sounds alive for future generations to experience and enjoy, as well as those of us who have been privileged to taste and be apart of the early roots of country and gospel music. So keep punching these great tunes out there for all of us to enjoy.

A Star In The East

A Nice country song, a very catchy tune, original not clichéd, both good musically and vocally, a good chorus that refers to the title of the song, I would listen to this more to relax and unwind

A Star In The East

This is a song with the sound the 60's slow dance with the gospel story told. It is very innovative Beautiful back up with a melody of instruments. It reminds me of a full swing band and all the back up singers on the Gershwin Grandstand. IA great blend of instruments with excellent musical composition. I especially love the vocal talent who holds his own with the best. Lovely to hear this style of music in gospel Country Music.. I think it would place higher in the charts if you entered it under the category of Christian Gospel Music. Why not give it a try? All the best to one of The Best Mike Bryant

A Star In The East Review

'A Star in the East' is a beautiful Christmas song. Mike does a good job singing it. It has a catchy melody and keeps your mind wondering back to the time when Jesus was born. It tells of his mother, Mary praying. I think she must have been a really special person to be picked out of the whole earth to carry God's only begotten Son, Jesus Christ. I would recommend 'A Star in the East' to my relatives and friends. Merry Christmas!

Nice little song

I love the classic country feel and the music is great. I think you might work on the melody just a smidge to make it a little more commercial. It is a good song but, I sense it could be a great song. Are you playing any instruments in the song? Did you write melody and lryic . You are talented no doubt about that one. I lookd forward to hearing more from you. Keep up the good work and keep em coming.

The Star shines

I love the music, very well arranged. I was not so enamored with the vocal, it sounds a little tired like there’s not so much energy behind it, which I totally relate to because I have done the same. Have you considered re-recording it with a strong female vocalist and joining her with harmony on the refrain? I hope this helps you.

Good band, uninspiring song

"Nashville Recording Artist" Mike Bryant has written and recorded a Christmas song called "A Star in the East". The style is 1950's slow country rock in 6/8 time, and the band is good. The piano player and lead guitarist are especially proficient. Unfortunately, the mix hides the band behind Mike's mediocre lead vocal. Harmonies and backing vocals are also executed well, and mixed appropriately. In all honesty, I don't care for Mike's vocal stylings, particularly his vowel sounds in the song's title phrase, which he sings as "in thuh east." From a songwriting standpoint, the lyrics are an uninspiring synopsis of the Christmas story that says nothing new, remains very general and superficial, and fails to reach the heart. Sorry to be so critical, but I need to be fair to the artists who are doing better than this. That said, I think Mike has better songs in him, and would be interested in hearing more from this artist.

Different

Let me start off by saying how attracting the instrumental is at the beginning! It’s just sends goosebumps through my body. Those lyrics are some of the beautiful ones I’ve ever heard ever! Now let’s talk about vocals, you have a wonderful voice but I feel that you can do more with it. I can clearly see that you’re nervous in the recording and the key is just to relax. There’s some notes in there where you’re slightly off key but that comes with confidence and constant vocal training. Make sure you train your vocals often, a lot of musicians skip the scales and breathing but it’s vital! The best do it. Keep up the good work lad!

A star in the East review

What a great true story of a salvor sent to save all of mankind , vocals are smooth and telling of love and a star being born. Mike brings this story song with conviction and a perfect delivery, the music is in perfect harmony and adds to the story and I am sure you will certainly enjoy Mikes rendendition of a star in the East . Each instrument in this song brings its own magic to the mixture and makes you want to come back and listen again! Great tune and thanks Mr. Bryant for your request for me to write a review on this great song!

A Star in the East

Hi Mike. I must say that I love the melody that you crafted for this song. It had me swaying through-out the whole tune. :) I even felt that the right person was singing the song; great voice to make this song as effective as it was for me. However, for some years now, I have discovered by reading the Bible that the wise men did not go to the manger in Bethlehem. They were led to Nazareth by the star, some time after Jesus' birth. Even the shepherds were led to the manger according to the angel's declaration; not the star. Even though a song sounds great to me, I can never support another song that runs counter to any truth that is found in the Bible. I hope this does not dampen your enthusiasm or creativity for Christmas songs because you have shown that you have a great talent for creating a great tune. Regarding the wording in the chorus, may I offer an alternate grouping of words that the angel announced to the shepherds "peace and good will" instead of "peace and of love," although the latter phrase fits into the meter of the song. Keep up the good work my friend. I anticipate hearing more from you. Blessings, Trev. :)

Classic Christian with a 50's sound

Reminds me of "In the still of the night." The band is tight and the feel is 50's all the way. Heartfelt lyric and a soothing melody. Nice Roy Orbison accents and the Christian lyric should find a good audience. I'm a fan of this style of music so keep on rocking that Christian beat and follow your heart. You can tell it means a lot to you and that's all that matters. The harmonies are very good too. Good job my friend and liked the final modulation. Nice touch and hope to hear your next one. :)
