New Yorker Michael Lauren (b.1950) began playing drums at the age of eight. His artistry fuses the boundaries of jazz, blues, funk, rock, and world music. Michael attended Johns Hopkins University, The Peabody Conservatory and Berklee College of Music. The Michael Lauren Quartet is a hard swinging funky jazz band that plays Accessible Contemporary Hard Bop imbued with passion, intelligence, joy, elegance and dynamics. The repertoire includes original music from Michael’s critically acclaimed Album “Once Upon A Time In Portugal” (Selected One of the 10 Best National Albums in 2016 (Arte Sonora) and also a number of his favorite jazz standards.
