Rich Pallette

I believe this is the first time that I collaborated with individual musicians without being present when they laid down their tracks. Having started construction of "Haven Studios" in January of 1987 I finally completed work building in July of that year. I worked non-stop designing the studio, drawing all of the .dwg's in CAD, sourcing the cables, mics, boards, decks, keyboards, etc. and also chopping off the second story of a wood frame 5 bedroom house and attic. I then waited two weeks whilst the framers built the new upper floors and then coated all of the walls and floor and ceiling with 3mm lead, layed out all electrics, comms lines, and signal lines. After the plasterboard and skim came in I painted all of the walls and decorated the walls with both paintings and absorber arrays. I installed our recording foyers and windows. I soldered tipped, and bell tested all of the ends of the comms and signal cables, Hung lights, speakers and wired the boards, decks, Midi system lines, and Midi control station, did a trial run and was ready for first bookings on 15th August, 1987. It was in December of 1987 that I finall had the studio to myself for about a period of 3 weeks and I had the opportunity to begin experimenting with the setup from the point of view of a musician instead of an engineer and producer. Freddy Freda, as engineer, Robert Venturini on bass, and Stormin Norman on guitar helped me finish this track called Rich Pallette.
