About Marco Ciannella

Composer, pianist and conductor, graduated from the Conservatory San Pietro a Majella in Naples in Composition, Piano, Clarinet, Choral Music and Choral Conducting; subsequently, he also graduated in Composition from the Conservatory Santa Cecilia in Rome, with full marks. He followed various improvers courses in Composition, among the others that held by G. Ligeti in 1996, at the International Music Academy of Novara and that at the Accademia Chigiana in Siena, held by Luis Bacalov. He also has attended Master Classes held by Gavin Bryars and Nicola Piovani, at the Conservatory Santa Cecilia in Rome. Frequently he performs his own compositions, both for solo piano and for Chamber and orchestral formations in Italy and in several countries (Sweden, Belgium, Spain, etc.) always achieving unanimous approval. Many of his compositions have been published and recorded on CD. He has been included in the Italian Encyclopedia of Contemporary Composers edited by Pagano Publishing House. In 2011 the Orchestra of the Cordoba Opera Theatre recorded some his works for the label Brilliant, who then distributed the CD in Europe and in the (expired link)., through the "Naxos". for the label Brilliant, who then distributed the CD in Europe and in the (expired link)., through the "Naxos". Numerous instrumentalists asked him to write for their instrument, as the Swedish violist Bengt Andersson, who has recorded on CD (for "Rosarium") and played in Concert the Sonata for viola and piano by M. Ciannella at the Göteborg Opera Theatre, where he served as first Viola. His works have also been performed at the Palace of Arts (PAN), the Museo di Capodimonte, Villa Pignatelli in Naples; the Teatro Comunale di Bolsena, the Teatro dell’Orologio in Rome, the Teatro D'ambra of Canosa, the "Palazzo Cittanova" in Cremona, the Turin international book fair, at the "Associazione clavicembalistica Bolognese”, the civic library of Cosenza (cloister of Santa Chiara), the Teatro Rendano of Cosenza, the Palazzo della Provincia of Catanzaro, Steytelinck Castle and the Auditorium Dieplaan of Limburghall (Belgium), the Göteborg Opera Theatre. In 1997 he collaborated with Roberto De Simone to the composition of the music of the Ballet "Te voglio bene assaje", performed in Theaters "San Carlo in Naples, "Alla Scala” in Milan, “Donizetti” in Bergamo. Beside a large production of "classical" music, Marco Ciannella has developed a personal compositional style, next to the "ambient" music.
