In June of 2006, a pairing of musical minds began collaboration on a song. Dave Schweizer and Mark Lopez met at a songwriters support group in Pasadena, California. Dave sent Mark a few lyrics he had no music for and within a week Mark presented the basic structure for what would become their first song. Two recording sessions later the arrangement was finalized. Both realized that they had something that was better than anything they had ever done individually. Here’s a little insight into backgrounds of the guys behind this project…
Dave S. Schweizer (BMI) - is native to the Los Angeles, California area, where he has enjoyed several years of making music loved by many. Dave also collaborates with local, national and international industry professionals and amateurs. Most recently, he played bass and lead guitar in 'Lapis', a classic/alternative Rock/Pop band for three years. Lapis has performed many shows throughout California for over 10 years, until disbanding in 2001. Previously, Dave was the keyboardist, and later guitarist, for 'Slow Thunder', a mystical Country & Western/Rock band with a wide variety of influences. He was also bassist for 'Clean Trash', a Grunge/New Metal band that was heavily influenced by Nirvana and Metalica. Some of his material has aired repeatedly on MTV's Road Rules, TBS Superstation, HBO, other cable networks, and is signed to publishers.
Mark Lopez (BMI) – Also born and raised in Los Angeles, Mark has spent the last seven years producing a series of instrumental compositions under the name Moth Music. He studied music formally in college and received a degree in music theory and composition. Being a non-performing writer, Mark devoted many years developing musical ideas and recording them into a four- track recorder. But it was his first foray into the world of midi recording that sprang forth a flow of creativity that remains prolific to this day. His many compositions have been used in TV promotions, commercials, and independent films. It is his hope to work with others in a way that will allow him to develop his talents as a writer/producer.
The initial idea of Maple Bridge was to showcase songs that would be made available to publishers and producers in need of songs for the artists they represent. However, with the ability to deliver their CD directly to the public, Dave and Mark wish to present these original recordings to demonstrate the joy and spirit of their collaboration. | | |
