Country at its best

This one sounds good from the very beginning, it's got everything a good country song needs. Good guitar craftsmanship with excellent sounds, nice flat or maj tunes in between, harmony vocals in the chorus. The drumset is a bit defensive, the snare could have a bit more punch, but that's all I have to remark. Really a good production that touches my soul. Very well done Larry.

Sounds country

Sounds like classic Nashville music, maybe a little more of 80s or early 90s style. Nice smooth vocals could use a bit more backup vocals Music is tight and clean and the story line is nice. Good easy listening classic country music.

Great modern blend

Loved it. Very commercial. I could hear it playing on the radio for sure. Would love to hear more of your original stuff. It was a good blend of southern gospel and modern country and still had an edge of stylistic originality. Keep on writing I look forward to hearing more.

Ridin' On A Prayer

Good Ol' Country Song with a story line that rings of heart aches, lonlieness and loss. Larry has a unique vocal talent that calls to mind the Grand Old Opry Singers of Nashville. This song has an instrumental that is top notch. Great composition with a wonderful percussion instrumental. This song evokes such beautiful imagery of a young man living his dream and continuing to hope for his future to bring him peace. I enjoyed it and look forward to hearing more now that I've discovered this cowboy from Aussieland. Thank you Larry for sharing your talents.

Take It With You

Songs, like this, just pull you in and tear at your heart strings, it's real life. First, what a very nice voice you have Larry and an honest delivery of it, The guitar is so relaxing and not loud, the picking is really cool in the song, I love the crying steel guitar.the drums are perfectly setting the motion of the song. God's only a prayer away and every time cowboys rodeo they don't know what will happen next in the squared circle arena. Thanks for a really cool song. Songedge

A Rodeo Cowboy's Lullaby

When I first heard this song by Larry Cann I fell in love with the romantic imagery of the lyrics with its timeless musical arrangement. It sounds so surreal...almost hypnotic. His voice just kind of floats above the melody weaving in and out of each verse until each chorus when it all comes together to remind us of the hook line again and again. This is a truly well written song. It is also a truly well arranged, produced, and performed song as well. The icing on the cake is the engineering quality of the song. It's really smooth. Great job, Larry. And if anybody knows about the rodeo life, it's Larry Cann...a real life true blue Rodeo Cowboy. YeeeHaa ;)

Very Likable Country Song

Larry Cann is an Australian Country artist with a very likable sound. His song Ridin' On A Prayer is a story telling song about a rodeo cowboy. The character is compelling and so is the song. The pedal steel is sweetly played as are all the instruments on this track. Stylistically the simple and honest production tells the story well without being to showy. harmonies are very nice. I enjoyed listening to this song several times. I look forward to hearing more from this talented artist.

Ridin' On A Prayer

Excellent song Larry. You have a very good voice. I love the guitar work and instrumentals along with the steel guitar which always adds a lot to a country song. It is a lot better than some of the stuff i hear on the radio everyday. Very well done. It should be a hit. Good luck with it. It is a little long for radio airplay though so try to shorten it to two and a half minutes. FRANMAN

Beautiful story about a Rodeo writer with fantastic vocals

Exquistely played steel guitar begins this beautiful country track. Lyrics tell a great story about the rodeo. Larry's vocals are pure traditional country up there with the greats like Conway Twitty and George Strait. Nice clean arrangement. Well done vocal harmonies, nice guitar tracks, lovely fiddle and steel guitar solos. This song deserves to be a big international hit.

For anyone who doesn't know, Slicethepie is a music review site where ordinary members of the public can join up free as a scout (also called reviewer), listen to new songs, and write a short review about the song for a small payment. Each review is just the member's opinion of the song and/or artist. No special musical skill or knowledge is required as the site wants the opinion of the wide general public. In recent years, it has also enabled members to give reviews on fashionable clothes and phone cases, but those are more of a sideline, so this article is only concerned with the music side of Slicethepie and how to write song reviews. As an experienced reviewer on Slicethepie and musician, I wrote this article to advise new scouts on how to write reviews that can be more helpful to the artist, even if they (the reviewers, not the artists) don't have any formal background in music.

Good job Larry.

Well thought out lyrics, Rythum runs thru it. I guess you would know the life of a rodeo cowboy. It's an easy listening tune, my only thought for making it perfect would be to shorten a little bit.
