Remarkable Pop-Ballad

Helpful

Hey - that´s really something special. The intro starts off with some folk aucoustic guitar chords, but this arrangement is more various. The drummer is playing slow handed and straight on the point. Different brakes in the bridge making the composition engaging for me. The tenacity of the song is forced by soft e-guitars and a nice backing bass-line. Karen O´Brien sings with engaging vocals the lyrics about someone or something, including all the relevant characteristics, qualities, or events with a very soulful vocal projection. The refrain is impressive and makes the meaning of the song engaging for me. The backround is fullfilled with great e-guitar solos. This extra factor brings moreover a deep feeling into this arrangement. The song is definitely professional and very creative. The instruments are extremely good played from a very talented musican. Very good mixing and perfectly well done composition. But why do I tell this? Because this is a wonderful pop-ballad with R&B influences and could be a radio hit. It´s original and I´m sure, you will also like to add it. Let others know your recommedation.

Hi there Karen. Very interesting song. I get the impression that you have been wonderfully touched by someone close to you, or by somebody's story. Good on you for under-taking the task of writing a song to commemorate their achievements. If you meant to reach the youth, to impress upon them the importance of honouring the seniors among us who have REALLY made a substantial mark in history, and thus propel them into action within their generation, then I think you have picked an appropriate music structure. If you wanted to bless that age group, the genre may be a bit cutting for their ears or taste. lol The intro is quite searching and reflective of how you have been touched by their sacrifice. The descriptions of those of that generation can never be glorious, so it may be hard to describe their condition with cloaked phrases so as not to embarass them. ;) The eyes do tell the story and starch of a person. Good job. Good mix of music and vocals. In this case, I like it that the drums are a bit louder; marking out the time in their lives. The strain of the electric seem to interpret the strains and stress of their lives. Great song Karen. Not too sure that this would get great acceptance (too bad) commercially, but it should. A lot of folks in society do not want to have to consider this important topic that you have showcased. May the Lord bless you for your labour of love. Trev. :)

I don't write reviews, because am not any good at it. But this is a very good production. The musicians do a great job. And the vocal is naked and sensual and taking me places. With eyes closed am dreaming and hoping that the song never ends. well done :)

Neat sound, neat song

Really strong, unique voice! I also like the mix of the guitar in the beginning with the more modern-sounding or pop-sounding beat. It creates a really fascinating vibe that drew me in. The lyrics are refreshingly original -- a topic I haven't often heard people sing about for sure. I think the chorus could be a little stronger though (in a musical sense) -- I'd like to hear more contrast between the verses and the chorus...as if the chorus "goes somewhere."

Spanish style ballad

The intro sets the mood, a latin style ballad backed by some flamenco and electric guitars. The drum beat reminds me of Sade and the wah wah guitars keep things moving forward. If I had to place this song, it would be on an 80's movie sound track. The sounds, the feel, the lyrics, the vocal, they all evoke that time and place. With the current emphasis on retro and movies about that time period, who knows, maybe this could be on a movie soundtrack. Good solid effort! Keep up the good work!

Nice Rock Song

The song has a nice sentiment. I like the intro with the acoustic guitar and would have liked to hear more of it within the song, the way it is now, the intro feels a bit isolated and out of place. The singer has a great voice and timbre but I'm not sure if she's always in tune. The solo guitar is to present for me and is most responsible for the dated feel of the song (kind of 70th), but maybe that's a good fit to the title. The lyric is somehow special and I don't really know if it fits for that kind of music.

your piece is exquisitely acoustic and therefore very beautiful. you feel the instruments play and this is very rare today. your voice recalls bon jovi and frankly the whole thing is wonderful .. great job

More Pop Than Country

instruments were great, and an excellent job on the mix. The vocals were great reminded in some ways of Tina Turner. Was a little pitchy in a couple of areas but it wouldn't be too noticeable if I weren't also a singer so I look for it in others. trust me nobody is more pitchy than I am. Over all great sound

This song is really beautiful and well written. This is definitely a song that you would play at a wedding where everyone is slow dancing with someone they care about. I have to say this singer is very talented and I look forward to hearing more from Karen o'brian in the future. Thank you for sharing your talents with the world! Hopefully you continue to make wonderful music like this because the world deserves to hear from you.

New Artist to Watch!

This song (I'm sure) is just a tease. I hear the vocal styling of a star coming from this lady. I think i'll listen to more from Ms. O'Brien, she's got more to say. The world is about to be in love with her.

BOOA Rock Song

Soft rock song with decent production... Musically simple with an odd theme for a rock song but, rock tunes are often known for strange themes and, still get accepted if, they have a tight sound... Vocals were good but, seem more suited to bluesy material than rock because very little range was extended.. Vocal tone wasn't totally convincing to me and, also were buried down in the sound mix for a lot of the song... Lyrics weren't posted to follow along with so, the story got replaced with just another rock band with a lot of wah wah peddle lead guitar for effect... I believe this song will make a good album filler and, likely a decent live act tune for smaller crowds but, as is, probably won't find much air time in bigger markets... Overall, I think it would benefit from a redo... Dump the audio engineer from this take and, get one who understands the vocal IS the song... Also lose the stoner 70's, wah wah peddle lead guitar... The Isaac Hayes days are long gone...

Beauty of Old Age Review

I heard the intro and expected one thing & then the vocal came in. LOVE the sound and approach. The drums seem a little stiff but your vocal approach makes one forget about such things. Love your background harmonies and the guitar approach. The solos on guitar are riveting. Congratulations on a great song! It makes me want to hear more from you. Keep up the great work. The only thing I would consider changing is the drums in the intro. Unfortunately I can't think of another approach so if it works, keep it.

Hey Karen! I really like the groove in this song!! I love your vocals, you have some pipes, girl! The guitarist played some very spooky licks which cast the song as an eerie “Marie LaVoe” type feel. I think this song should do quite well for you and I wish you the very best of luck!!

The song sounds pretty good. I like the verses with the backing vocal samples. It's quite catchy. The chorus sounds nice too. The combination of verse and chorus connect well. Guitar solo's are well done. I do miss some spice in the song. Spice as in: real drums with more variation, vocally by more aggressive approach. It also lacks a nice bridge to keep things a little more interesting in my opinion. But there is stuff that can have a good potential. Keep up the good work!

Hello! Here is the voice which has of the personality! Very attractive vibrato! The general sound of the piece of music is very clean and great well set up. The general tone is very "classic" in its harmonies, but the group and pleasant to listen to. Instruments are all defined well from the point of view of the sound; everything is very clean. It is not the music style which I usually listen, but there, it is the good work! Have a good day plenty of music!

Hello from Jerzy

To Me This is a " Soft Rock" category song... I just wish that Singer will sung in tune... some parts are off the Tune...nice work on Guitar.. it is good to be played on Concerts but is not ready yet to be played on the Radio ( I mean FM..AM )...this is why I gave only 2.9 ..Jerzy
