Reflections In Time

It's Never Too Late - John Martin

Good song

I like the song and your vocals on the track are good and unique. My critique is to try to modernize the song a little more so that it fits into today's music so that you would be more likely to have success with the song. Unfortunately, music has changed a lot over time, and us singer/songwriters have to adapt to the changes in order to succeed. Keep up the good work!

I am a big fan of John's music for many reasons not the least of which is his excellent voice and top notch original music. Reflections in Time is simply one of my favorites...it simply puts one in a good space - helping to remember the many things in ones life that have come to pass...nice reflections...good memories...spurred on by a great song.

i think that the intention of John is good, at least. His voice has something special. But, I think that the song could be more explored. If that record could be much better with another instrumentations. Specially, the drums, and the general reverb. Anyway, go on!

A pretty song

John gives a little insight into his experiences in life. Many can certainly relate to the message here. The song is performed well by all and John's voice is sure and smooth. I think I would have like a little less reverb on the lead vocal. I also think a remix making better use of the whole soundfield would help to distinguish the different instruments. I also think pro mastering of this track would make it sound crisper. This however, does not take away from some thoughtful songwriting here. All in all, a good effort! Best of luck! DW

Enjoyed the song John!

HI John, I am humbled that you would ask for my review. Here are some thoughts. I really liked the instrumentation and back up vocals, particularly the mandolin. You sound a lot like Elvis, and I mean that in a very good way! The chord progression and guitaring was also very enjoyable. I love the way the chord kind of drops unexpectedly and pleasantly. (as in "now that we're older") I think the song became stronger as you went on.... there is a little bit of flatness about 10 seconds in that I am sure you could re-record. Other than that....Great job! (Please accept this review humbly and with all due respect. We re all on the same journey.) Peace! Jimmy :-)

took me way back to my childhood

Well done John, Reflections In Time took me way back to my childhood. The song reminded me of all those great songs and personality's that came across the waters to our shores in the 1970's. Love the vocals and musicianship, although the recording was a little below par, the actual song and style was cool. Keep up the good work. billy.

This little track is great tune flavoured by John Martin's country style vocals. I like the lyrics and look forward to hearing some more tracks by John.

As a whole i liked the song and the idea of the song. It was very lyrical and the melody was good. The arrangement, mix and instrument was also good. The vocal was sollid and timed well. There was one thing that i feel would have made the song better at least for me. The same melody was repeated several times and i would like to have heard an alternate melody to break up the sound which bordered on being too redundant. Something like a melody bridge Overall I liked it and hope the best with it. Regards Paul Springfield

reflections of classic music

I really like the vibe of this song. .it reminds me of the music I grew up on, having a classic and timeless sound. I wish the mix was better because this one is not doing the vocalist justice.

Music and lyrics go very well together. Musically it sounds outdated, but nice production. Your pleasant vocals make the words glide nicely. I wasn't sure of your song structure; if it was VCVC or an AABA type. As you use your title not in the chorus section. If the section "The river runs deep ... " is your chorus, I think you should pull your title from that. That way when ppl listen, they can pick out your title. Had a really nice musical section. Had a dreamy flow. Overall, a good job. Best of luck in your musical endeavors.

Some things

The tune itself is very sweet. But i cant pass the fact that the piano in this tune is quite out of tune (heard it specially in the last minute of the song). I also don't understand the chords that are in the second time of the verse part. I would have left it as simple as possible. The melody is great and memorable. Overall i like it very much. Thank you :)

It is refreshing to hear a well-written and nicely-crafted song. John Martin demonstrates in his performance an understanding of the importance of style supporting theme. This is also evident in the composition of the song: there is definitely a beginning (intro) through the middle (pleasant instrumental) and finally the lyrics tie up everything nicely with positively phrased images and the fade-out at the end which is appropriate to the theme as time goes on. A good song with singable chorus, and thoughtful lyrics that engage the listener. All of this and John Martin's timing and skill as a musician, sweet voice, and expression. My only thought as to making this better is to ask for more. The lyrics are so similar in the beginning and the end sections that I thought he was just repeating until I did hear the lyrics resolve to a different tense by the end. Thank you John for a nice song and effort.

Hey John. The song sounds good. I like the female vocal harmonies which add to your deeper voice. A song with haunting undertones that speak of memories and the passage of time.

John, you have a nice rich voice and the track is well produced. A little more separation needed (for me) especially in the lead break, with a touch more volume too for the lead. Voice echo could be a little less. i like it to be a reproduction of what would be in a natural setting unless an (perhaps unusual) 'effective' effect. Pretty darned good though.

Pleasant but dated.

I find your song to be well done both with the male vocal and the female harmony....however, the song itself is very outdated. It reminds me of the Elvis or Ricky Nelson era.

Outdated

This is definitely a home recording. It sounds like the material is old. Lyrics are ok but not a hit. Production is a digital home recording on a computer. The singing is ok but not professional. This sounds like a songwriter demo. it is outdated music. I did not rate it very high. I am sorry

Elvis

Sounds really old-timey, but not a bad song. Probably just not for the younger crowd. Really sounds like the singer is trying to sound a lot like Elvis.
