About Joel Sonenshein
Joel has been making music since the age of six, playing saxophone while his mother tapped out tunes on their funky old upright piano. He picked up his first guitar at age fourteen and started singing with a folk group in high school, doing lots of Peter, Paul and Mary covers.
He decribes himself now as a recovering attorney, having quit the practice of law several years ago. He is active in the Humboldt Folklife Society, helping to put on an annual week long festival every summer. He has been leading a Beatles sing along at the festival for nine years running. A festival favorite, the sing along attracts about 150 people per year. For the past eight years Joel has also been hosting a monthly community sing along in Arcata, California.
