About jerome taylor
Jerome Taylor started playing the piano at the age of 9 years old in Chicago Illinois followed by a stint of piano lessons, so as to learn how to read music and be more familiar with the keyboard in general! Also a stint at the Kennedy King Junior College and the American Conservatory of Music in Chicago, Illinois soon followed with an emphasis on piano performance! At the age of 14 years old, Jerome learned to play the hammond organ, largely self taught at local churches and soon become widely known in the Chicago area as a musical prodigy of sorts! He also began playing in clubs as well as other churches and also soon became a session musician in some of Chicago's leading recording studios! In 1972 Mr. Taylor entered in the Armed Forces where he also started a Men's Chorus at Ft. Campbell Kentucky dubbed, The 101st Airborne Division Choir! Following his discharge from the armed services, Jerome returned to the studios and also played for a number of R&B and Funk bands all across the Great Lakes area! In 1989, he migrated to New York City to further promote his music and to achieve his goal of becoming a full time musician, studying with the likes of Internationally renowned Jazz Pianist, JoAnne Brackeen and Internationally acclaimed jazz organist Amina Claudine Meyers! He continued to play throughout the city in various churches and also began giving music instruction in piano and organ! Mr. Taylor authored and published a music instruction manual entitled "Modern Chord Changes To Favorite Hymns" (Outskirts Press) for non-readers of music to assist in learning advanced chord voicings for the piano as well as the organ! He has also produced 7 CD projects of his own compositions to date and promotes them on his website: (expired link)! Jerome Taylor is very much in demand as a session musician as well as a piano and organ instructor and producer!!
