Jay-Is-Real (birthed James Immanuel Horn Jr.)is a Christian Hip-hop and Gospel artist who blends diverse sounds together to worship God with rap music. These styles include Hip-hop, Gospel, EDM, and Contemporary music. Having grown up in a christian home with a musical family, Jay began to play the piano and sing at a young age. Upon accepting Christ as his savior at the tender age of 6, it was evident that God was going to use music in his life to bless others. Jay first began rapping at age 14, and started by writing poems and raps for his brother and fellow artist, Jerich0. After experimenting with a pop career and releasing an EP called SWAGG in 2013, Jay decided to devote most of his time to Hip-hop after the mild success of his song “Christian Rap”, which would later be Number 40 on numberonemusic.com’s christian pop charts. In late 2013 James hooked up with his friend and producer James Rhodan, aka RHDN (Japhia Life, Beleaf, Tragic Hero). They worked on two songs together, and one of them was the hit song “Trust You” which played on 2 international radio stations and is him most streamed song to date. He followed up the single with the Mixtape “Here I Am” in 2014 and multiple concerts. In November 2014 Jay announced that he is currently working on his Debut HIp-hop EP Levels, which is set to release on March 27th 2015. In his music, James wants to give people hope and let them know its ok to struggle and be real. He wants everyone to come to grow their faith in Christ, and seeks to encourage that through his gift. In addition to his music career, James is also a undergraduate student at Messiah College. He is currently studying Theology and Christian ministries, and hopes to be a youth pastor upon graduation.
