Every now and then an artist emerges defying the descriptions commonly applied to today’s rock music. JAK PARIS is literally such an artist. Growing up in Southern California, music has been a key facet of his life since childhood. JP began singing in elementary school and moved to the front of the stage with lead roles in high school plays. At age twelve, JP was given his first guitar and he immediately began studying techniques from edgier rock bands like Metallica, and Jane’s Addiction. JAK PARIS is entirely self-taught. Underage at the time, he would sneak into Hollywood clubs to hear other rock bands perform.
Motivated by his passion for music and the allure of Hollywood, JP quickly set about the task of becoming a rock star. He formed his first band at age 16 with life long friend Jeremy Popoff, who would go on to form the band Lit. Collaborating with Jeremy on writing, they quickly developed the band “Dreams” and soon found a following on the West Coast and as far as Texas. Music fans were responding enthusiastically to their aggressive sound and energetic performances. Their popularity earned them highlights early in the bands career opening for national acts and playing to sold out shows.
Yet in spite of their promising success and accolades, tensions began to develop between the other band members. The rapid pace of the band's schedules quickly had its effects on them and they went their separate ways. Although the band members began to drift apart to pursue their own ambitions, Jeremy and JP stayed in touch and remain close friends.
JP took some time away from music to pursue his long time interest in acting. As with music, his passion for acting was just as strong. But the loss of his Father, even after reading for several roles, weighed on his artistic creativity and he decided to take a break from both acting and music.
After six years out of the public eye, and some much needed soul searching, JAK PARIS was back with a recharged sense of direction. The songs were flowing with energy and intensity. JP’s voice and writing were better than ever and he began actively looking for a studio to record his songs acoustically. After three months of recording it was clear he had found his sound. He spoke to long time friend and producer, Bob Ferrari, and they began working together on the album. JP would play most of the instruments on the album to give the true essence of his talent. The finished product proved to be a tremendous hit. With a vengeance JP formed his own label, NEV Records Inc., to release the album, appropriately called, Electric Revolution. Two of the singles,Not Back Down and Overrated are already getting rave reviews and will be going for radio adds in February, 2006. The full CD will be released in late March 2006.
Powered by raw emotion, unmatched passion and a defined vision, JAK PARIS moves to the forefront of today’s rock music. JP is an innovator, creating his own style of multi-layered music that combines alt-rock and electric composition with a very fine line between hard rock and pop music. JP has the ability to mesmerize with passionate lyrics, a driving intensity, and then going into a ballad with a solid melody. He carries the emotion and love for his music, and it shows on his new CD, “Electric Revolution.” His artistic abilities are unprecedented to crossover success with diversity between rock, pop, and alternative song craft. |
