Hi everybody, and welcome to another update from Indus Rushville. A few things have been going on lately, so I'll do my best to keep you all in the loop.
Finally, the new album, "Himalayan Suite & Other Tales" has been finished, and is now awaiting a release date. The songs are all on Soundcloud now at (expired link) you may have heard some of them on (expired link) as well. To all of you on that site who keep recommending my work and sharing it on Social Media, a big Thank you. You're doing me the world of good, and through you I get many more followers.
I am now heavily involved with promotion, and I'm pleased to say that I've recently sold 6 licenses for playing some of my music in the advertising and the Compilation Album areas, so you may here my stuff in McDonalds or Body Shop anytime after October 2017, or find an Indus Rush track on a comp album in one of the bigger stores.
At the moment the new tracks are getting a lot of plays on Spotify, and there are some great Collaborative Playlists on there as well to hear some of the new, and the older songs we've made in the past.
If anyone is looking to buy the new album or any tracks from it it is available on (expired link). The website has been updated so there may be some things you may wish to have a look at while you're, there.
The next stage in my life right now is getting the Band together, and getting it on the road. This is much harder than it appears as I am based in a very low populated area, and finding people to play with is not easy. The plan is to be ready to play live from the end of June 2018, and be ready for the festival season.
I hope to have better news for you in the next weeks, but as for now, thats it. So, until next time, Goodbye from Indus Rushville.
Keep listening, as I'm loving your support, and I hope you like the new tracks on the new album.

Hi Everybody,
Just a note mid month to wish you all a wonderful Summer Solstice, which just past us on the 21st June....
I'm still working on a couple of songs, no, three songs, for the new album. One Instrumental with reminitions of Green Onions, which I'm calling Pink Garlic at this point, mainly 'coz I can't think of another title for it, lol. Maybe I'll call it Green Mango, after the famous Discotheque on Koh Samui, Thailand.
Incidentally, if any of you are going to visit Thailand, I would highly recommend the "Full Moon Party" on Koh Phangan, an island basking in the South China sea, which is pretty much paradise. The party takes place a day after the Full moon every month as a rule, and is a great place for a good knees up on the beach. For the rest of your visit, you should hang out at Jaya bar and restaurant, where my good friend Robert, from the Netherlands, hosts weekly jam and open mic sessions, so singers and musicians can join in on stage, if they're feeling confident enough. A great place...
Well, after that small deviation, back to Indus Rush stuff, and the other two songs I'm working on, both of which involve vocals. Vocals is a sore point right now as after my throat cancer treatment, my voice box has not quite recovered yet, and I'm hanging in there every day waiting for a time when I can hold those long notes again. At the moment, there's a break in the voice each time I try it, so I'm waiting, and practising every day, so I can finish this album off. My medical guys say it's not long off, so it's worth waiting for.
Last month I mentioned Spotify, and the links not working etc. Here's the link to Indus Rush's profile page, so please add a couple of tunes to your playlists. The same material is also available on Amazon Music, Apple Music and Google Music, as well as all the others, so add Indus Rush to your playlists on any of those platforms.

One last thing, should any of you want to contact me, please do so on N1M or through my email on the website, or indeed on FB or Twitter. You'll also find me on Instagram. Please get in touch as it's interesting to know who's listening, and what you like about the music I've produced so far.
That's it until next month, so keep safe until then!

Hi Folks,
This is Steve from Indus Rush, letting you know what's going on in Indus Rushville for the last few weeks.
Firstly, I was disappointed no-one had joined me on Spotify, after all, it is free, so I didn't see what the problem was. That was until I tried the link I've been posting on my Thank You messages etc. It seems the link don't work, which makes it a waste of time putting it on there in the first place. So, here's the link, and please sign up and make a playlist. There's the occasional commercial now and then, but I guess someone's got to pay for it. So Happy Streaming guys...

Spotify is important for artists and musicians so they can gain more listeners and perhaps make a tiny bit of money, so please help all those you support or follow on N1M by adding them to one of your Playlists on Twitter. Incidentally, I have made a play list up there of stuff I've been listening to lately, including The Cults, Bryce Fox, Choir of Youth, Tree Adams and M83. You can enjoy all these wonderful tracks at:
spotify:user:indusrush:playlist:2FEFVJ4LIAGEdH5zIKTNkO
Most of May was spent finishing and perfecting some of the mixes for the new album, including fresh mixes of Romany Days, Lost Quarter and Encinitas Break. Other tracks include more instrumental tunes such as The Himalayan Suite - Appointment in Samara, and 3 other tunes in the same Suite including The Silk Road, Parts 1 & 2, and Mountainscape. Claire will also be on the album, as yet untitled, but temporarily known as Tales & Anecdotes. There is still a bit to do on this album, but things are moving along just fine.
Just one last thing to ask you all, please follow me on Social Media, the url's are as follows:

That's it for another month people so hang in there, enjoy your music and thanks very much for the support from all of you.
Best Wishes and lots of shared LOVE,

Happy 1st of May everybody,
Just a short info mail to let you know what s going on in the life of Indus Rush.
It's been a good April for me as I've reached 3000+ followers on twitter which is a landmark in as much as getting wider audience in this wide world of ours...Also, the Trans-Atlantic interview with Brian of Factory Fast Records went really well and I enjoyed the experience. Factory Fast Records make compilation CD's of up and coming Bands and Musicians and get them played on Radio Stations and mentions in Blogs. All good stuff, and I thank them for including my music on 4 of their Cd's available to listen to on Spotify. They can also be downloaded from the usual outlets, iTunes, Amazon, Apple etc.
Talking of Spotify, I really would appreciate it if any of you would place one or two of your favourite Indus Rush songs on your Spotify playlists. That would give the music some nice exposure when you're playlists are shared with friends. I would be forever grateful.
Other news is that the final version of Encinitas Break will be ready for upload soon, as well as some other more electronic sounds from The Himalayan Suite. Just finishing that off in the studio right now. Just need to save some money to pay for the mastering. Ha Ha, the hard life of a musician...blah blah....
Finally, Waterfall Dance will be released as a single on May 5th and should be available to purchase from iTunes, Apple Music (is that the same now?), Amazon and other outlets. Don't forget to add it to your Spotify playlists!
That's all the news for now, folks, so just time to say Thanks for your continued support and recommendations,
Spread the Love,
Steve aka Indus Rush.

Hey folks, Steve here again from Indus Rush ! I'd like to welcome all new subscribers to my music via N1M, and just to let you know I'm not going to bombard you with non stop spam every day. I send these mails out sparingly and quite randomly, as I'm busy recording and writing most of the time.
I've now completed uploading my first 3 singles and my first album "From The East Down to the West" to the website, and I thought it was about time I gave away a FREE DOWNLOAD to all you guys, so please feel free to take my song "Encinitas Break", a song dedicated to Brian, Al, Mike, Dennis, Bruce and Carl of the Beach Boys, and to the So Cal culture and vibe, which I've always loved. So, yes, it's a surfers song essentially. I hope you like it. You'll notice some of the production techniques of Brian Wilson, including the backing vocals, organ solo as in Surfing' USA, and Guitar solo as in Fun Fun Fun!
I'd be happy to hear your opinions! So send me a message with your thoughts and opinions.
At the moment I'm working on 4 new tracks including an ambitious project called "The Himalayan Suite" which includes a lot of synth music and some beats. Looking forward to finishing that one.
That's all for now, so until the next time Adios, and you all keep really well.

‘Indus Rush’ is the brainchild of musician and producer, Stephen Whitby, recorded with session players over the Internet, and mixed down and produced by Steve in his Studio, somewhere in the hills of South West Scotland.
Stephen’s time spent travelling has helped him create his unique perspective on the world. His first album "From The East Down to The West" features songs describing the culture shock of moving from Thailand to Scotland (‘Land of Smiles (From the East)’, Steve’s childhood memories of Pakistan (‘Nowhere to run’) and the sparkling pop anti war song (‘The Love Ambassadors’).
It also includes the haunting first single ‘The Market Place/Mandingo’ - two parts of an unpublished trilogy of songs about Iraq. The Market Place was inspired by Stephen’s experiences in Asia/The Middle East; the music and lyrics painting an atmospheric picture of the Souks and Bazaars and Stephen’s vocals bringing a melancholic longing to the piece. It's easy to hear Steve's influences in his production style with hints and whispers of George Martin, Brian Wilson, and Hans Vermeulen ever present in the arrangements and orchestral and vocal nuances.
Stephen has spent the last 30 years travelling across the world and playing with a variety of famous musicians (including Adrian Fisher from Sparks, David Glasper and Ian “Spike” Spice from Breathe, Sparko from Doctor Feelgood and Mathew Kelly of Kingfish & The Grateful Dead) on a glorious beachfront setting called Secret Garden, on Koh Samui, in the Gulf of Thailand. He moved back to Scotland in 2008:
‘Upon returning to Scotland it’s taken a few years to get settled and organised, but now I’m starting to be creative again, and so here are a few songs from over the years, some old, some new, but all of them being relevant in my move from Asia to Scotland, hence “From The East Down to The West.”

Hi Folks,
Just a wee note from Bonny Scotland to let you know I've now put some lyrics up on the songs, and I've made songs available for sale. As usual there's not much more to tell, so just a repeat of the usual.
Thanks to all who joined up and who liked the first 3 songs. There are more to come and I'll probably put up a complete album soon.
I'm just going to put a link here for my blog, so I'm not bombarding your in - boxes with mindless prose every month. I'll send the link monthly for the benefit of new followers / subscribers, so you may all choose if you wish to get news or not. I'm a regular on twitter, and FB, so you may also follow on there should you wish to.

Hi Folks,
Firstly, a big Thank You to all of you who subscribed to me. I'm glad you like my first offering on this site, "The Market Place / Mandingo". My second offering "The Love Ambassadors" is also up now, and I know a lot of you like it, as you've sent some kind messages re. that track! If only we could really live in Peace like the dream of the song, of course I'm thinking of all those poor folks in Aleppo, and how they're suffering.

About Indus Rush
"From The East Down to The West" by ‘Indus Rush’ is the brainchild of musician and producer, Stephen Whitby, recorded with session players such as Bjorn McAteer Dahlberg (Sax, Clarinet and Piano), Max Saidi (Drums), Steve Baker (Guitar), and Matt Gest (Piano) over the Internet, and mixed down and produced by Steve in his Studio, somewhere in the hills of South West Scotland.
Indus Rush is a name chosen after a great river near the place where I spent time as a child, in Pakistan, and because there's a lot of Eastern content in my music. I have also spent many years in South East Asia, so there's also an affinity there.
These songs were written over a long period of time, performed live, but never recorded until now. I'm heavily influenced by George martin, Brian Wilson, Jeff Lynn, and Hans Vermeulen, who encouraged me in music and song writing, and I learnt the basics of recording and production from him. I am now a sound engineer as well, so hence the natural leap into production. Having been a musician performing day in night out for so many years. It's just something I have to do, being a Pisces, and being creative in nature.
I spent the last 30 years travelling across the world and playing with a variety of famous musicians (including Adrian Fisher from Sparks, David Glasper and Ian “Spike” Spice from Breathe, Sparko from Doctor Feelgood and Mathew Kelly of Kingfish & The Grateful Dead) on a glorious beachfront setting called Secret Garden, on Koh Samui, in the Gulf of Thailand. He moved back to Scotland in 2008:
After a fairly creative period of writing and recording in the last 4 or 5 years, I was diagnosed with Throat cancer in August 2016, and am now recovering from that at home, concentrating on writing and recording new material for the next album. Encouraged by the reaction to my music on Twitter, Facebook and Number One Music, I am keen to put my entire catalogue of songs up for streaming and purchase, and to build good rapport with followers and fans.
