About Hakeem Romance

Hakeem was born with the name Al-Hakeem 'Aquil Thompson in Fort Bragg, North Carolina. He was raised an army brat who had traveled the world with his parents. Most of his early childhood, he was raised by his loveable cousins in Newark, New Jersey during the summers because of the fact that his parents would have to go overseas. His two cousins Chemise and Khadijah mostly watched him during some of those summers. Growing up, basketball was always his passion because that's all he did. Whether it was a video game, him watching basketball games, and even trying to practice some of moves off of those video games and live basketball games he watched. Basketball was pretty much his everything. He had hoop dreams of getting a full basketball scholarship to a university and straight to the pros after that. One day his cousin Khadijah took him down to her high school, Arts High; where all the students were gifted with some kind of talent whether it was filming, dance, or acting. His cousin's talent was singing. Being that he was around her so much and she sung everywhere, anywhere and anytime, what she didn't realize was that he was listening and trying to imitate how she used to sing. Even though he didn't really talk a lot as kid, Hakeem was never a shy person but when it came down to showcase any kind of talent, he was always kind of iffy about it simply because of his love of the game of basketball, he didn't realize that he had other talents. Every school he went to he made the basketball team. His few years of high school at East Side High, he played ball there as well but didn't really have time for singing because of he had practice every day except Sundays. In his junior year in high school he took a chorus course just to see how people would respond and when his friends, teammates, classmates, teachers, and family heard him sing, they were just as surprised as he was! His family was mostly surprised that he could sing because of the fact that he never went into a full conversation about anything, they never knew until they heard him! By him singing, this talent is where found confidence and he began to realize that singing was something that he was an absolute natural at during his senior year in high school, and now, he has been taking his singing/music career serious ever since. He believes that with his talents and his hunger to learn, polish, hone his craft and do more, he can become very successful. He really wants to see exactly how far he can take this new talent of his. His future is very bright as well as his extravagant personality! This young man is very easy to work with! Takes constructive criticism very well as well as he is also humble! Be on the lookout for this young man!
