If you combined James Taylor, John Mayer, Dave Mason, and Neil Young, you would have Glenn French. A Fairfield,Ct native, French’s album Snowblind is a folk feature seeping with influences from country, blues, and even classic rock. French’s voice is a soothing, smooth thing to behold (or belisten, as it were), and his guitar playing is perfectly attuned with the stories he tells.

Track 1: “Snowblind” is a heartwarming piece about the lasting effect of friendship, though it has a bittersweet tang to it. The guitar beautifully sets up a more somber mood while French’s voice effortlessly portrays a story of friends loved and lost.

Track 5: “Friend of the Devil” is of course a tribute to Jerry Garcia and the unforgettable Grateful Dead. French adds a more thematically upbeat rhythm that includes acoustic guitar and a harmonica solo, as if the main protagonist was running faster through the Southwest than ever before.

Track 10: “The Open Road” is a melancholy piece that French establishes with a very lonely guitar and fiddle duet lamenting the long, open road that French’s character has traversed. As he recalls the eventual loss of everything, the fiddle returns in the chorus, representing the only warmth that he can get: a cup of coffee every now and then from a generous stranger. All the while the guitar plays a solemn, gloomy chord progression, a reminder of the girl (and everything else) the man has lost.

Glenn French's new release called "Snowblind" is "The Epitomy" of the Folk music we crave so much. This album will take you
places without even packing your bag, You will lose yourself in the glorious sounds of Glenn's Vocals and a variety of spectacular
Instruments. It is a laid back, easy style that will sweep you away, only to be delighted and suprized when a mando or violin breaks in.
This entire album pulled me back into the days of Don McLean and James Taylor. He has captured a whole world in this one 13 Track
album.
Superlative Accoustic and Electric Guitars are evident throughout "Snowblind". In fact, The mandolin , dobro and harp absolutely
moves this Album over the edge. I thought Glenn French's "Timeless" was an excellent effort. But now hearing this "Snowblind" Album,
I realize that Glenn French has come into his own. His strength put forward in these tracks are simply magnificent. You just couldnt ask
more from the Lyrics. It is a celebration to the ears and I recommend it highly.

I have chosen three tracks to tell you about here. Three tracks out of 13 splendid songs each and everyone. Seems sad. But I am not
meant to write a book. Though I'm sure I could with this album.

Let me start with;
*** Snowblind - The Title track of this album. The intro grabs us immediately with an accoustic guitar and fiddle. Glenns gentle
voice and the Mandolin speaking to our hearts. This is the kind of quality songwriting that gives us the memories to take us throughout
this life. It speaks of how important is it to see what is sometimes, right in front of us, but is missed. To hold on to the people in your life
that are important. Glenn French has mezmerized us with this song. Well Done !!

*** The Last Indian - This song is a huge surprize to both the senses and the lyrics. Beautifully orchestrated ! It touches upon history,
plight and lives of the North American Native People's. Glenn has captured the thoughts and feelings of a nation. This song is done with
a strong sense of the true heart of Folk Genre. You will love the melody.
*I would like to thank Glenn for this brilliant song, it has touched me personally and I know it will effect many others in the same way.*

*** Watch The Wheel - Once again Glenn French has done an unforgettable job. This song is absolutely beautiful. He sings of life's ups and downs. How we can never know what road life will take us on. He is most likely singing about a personal experience, but it touches the listeners own experiences as well. These lyrics are well written and so true. The Instruments used on this track make Watch The Wheel" timeless. Over and above all this, the guitar resonates softly behind Glenn's vocals and draws the listener in. This song is unforgettable.
Im not sure if it is a flute or some other wood wind instrument that is used on this piece, but it polishes this wonderful song into something spectacular.

Glenn French - Snowblind. 13 songs, 13 tales, a lifetime of joy. We are only what we experience. We take with us only what we learn
from those experiences. Snowblind has done you proud Glenn French. Snowblind has done your fans proud as well. Your Momma is
right. This is a brilliant Album, one of the best. Congratualtions !

Song Lyrics:

Southern Wind

I caught you sitting there just the other day
Didn’t know to be your friend was just a click away
Found you down in Dallas town
You shined a light to help me find my way
Kinda heard some good old music
Ringing through the still air today

You came and met me like a peaceful southern wind
Spoke my name and kept me warm all of the time
On and on the story goes
I’ll catch your fall when the wind blows
Find our place in time lay it on the line

And when you’re feeling low
I’ll be right by your side soon you’ll see
I’ll sit you down by the lake
Watching the fish rise by your feet
Our quiet piece of land
A moment that is held in harmony
The day is gone and far behind
We’ll start tomorrow you and me

You came and met me like a peaceful southern wind
Spoke my name and kept me warm all of the time
On and on the story goes
I’ll catch your fall when the wind blows
Find our place in time lay it on the line

Repeat Chorus

These Kind Of Days

I didn't miss the sky tonight at all
I memorized the pinks and shades of blue
My son grew so fast and so tall
I taught him on a bike now size twelve shoes

These kind of days make it all seem worthwhile
As long as I can see him smile

I didn't miss the day I fell in love
The rose I gave to the one I'm dreamin' of
It felt so good inside I held her hand
February seemed to go as planned

These kind of days make it all seem worthwhile
As long as I can see her smile

I almost missed my friends along the way
Advice they gave the things they had to say
Some of them just headed towards a dream
Others stayed at home within their means

I almost lost myself when I was young
The games I played and songs were left unsung
Now I fly down south to see my band
The tunes I bring they play like no one can

These kind of days make it all seem worthwhile
As long as I can see them smile
These kind of days make it all seem worthwhile
As long as I can see them smile

Snowblind
Drivin' home Berlin Turnpike
Smell the winter in the air
Wipe the glass if you don't mind my friend
It puts me in a trance when it's out there
When it's out there

I caught a glimpse of what was comin'
But it was sunny when we left
Miss that side of you your lovin'
It get so lonely in the glare
In the glare

I must have been so snowblind
To trust you all the way
I must have been so snowblind my friend
What a lonely yesterday

Now the storm has been lifted
Feel the calmness in the air
A love like ours will never die my friend
It puts me in a trance when you're not there
When you're not there

When the time comes we'll stake our own ground
Make the best of what we do
Hit the front porch and hear all the sounds
Just make the best of me and you
Of me and you

I must have been so snowblind
I'm missing all the things you used to do
I must have been so snowblind my friend
When it came to losing you

The Open Road

Lookin’ far behind what do I see
A crazy world of madness made for me
A lost and lonely cry a second chance
Wait another turn at the dance

Simple sadness haunts my brain
The girl I left behind is missed again
An empty road some tunes to get me by
No wonder how it all makes me cry

Mister please I’m on my bended knee
Warm some coffee in my cup
The road has been so long
Still I gotta move,move along

Somehow the open road clears my head
Reasons left behind words been said
Given what’s at stake I need a lucky break
The mornin’ paper flies with words not read

Just remember this my friend
The road might get you in the end
And if it takes you very far hide a moonbeam in a jar
The rest is up to you my friend

Mister please I’m on my bended knee
Warm some coffee in my cup
The road has been so long
Still I gotta move,move along

On The Night Train
Catch a ride on the night train
An empty car protects you from the rain
Wait and hide to hear the whistle blow
Why did she leave me leave me all alone

Scenery goes by from the corner of my eye
On the night train

Had a good job workin’ on the farm
Treated her right and kept her from harm
Didn't missed a day slaved all day long
Why did she leave and make a sad song

Scenery goes by from the corner of my eye
On the night train

Does she miss me can't she hear me call
Will she think of me at anytime at all
A cold wind blows and whispers my name
Another man will play a different game

Scenery goes by from the corner of my eye
On the night train

This train will take me to another town
Will my next woman try to let me down
If she leaves me I’ll catch the next train
At least I won’t be caught out in the rain

Scenery goes by from the corner of my eye
On the night train
On the night train
On the night train

Young Boy’s Eyes

Sittin’ all alone what to do
The clouds that roll by sing a tune
Kick a stone and try to pretend
Make believe I’m flyin’ in the wind

There is a God my Dad told me so
Watching me wherever I go
Why does it rain I want to play
Wishin’ all the clouds would go away

If I could only see through a young boy’s eyes
The bond that we feel makes me high

I don’t wannna grow up too soon
I think I see the man in the moon
Tuck me in to find a new dream
Whisper in my ear and watch me beam

If I could only see through a young boy’s eyes
The bond that we feel makes me high

Can you find some time to spend
I’ll bet I’ll make you smile in the end
I think I’ll make a castle out of sand
Years go by catch them if you can

If I could only see through a young boy’s eyes
The bond that we feel makes me high

Spend some time with me
Spend some time with me

    It's All Behind Me

It's been a while you were a child
Remember oh so well you were runnin' wild
I couldn't freeze the time
Maybe lost between the rhymes

Can't you see what it meant to me
Those times I held so dear all so plain to see
Suspended in a dream
Memory is all I own it seems

It's all behind me but it's in my heart
That reminds me gets lonely in the dark

You're with me now I'll teach you how
The things I know might help you if you just allow
By your side all the way
Until my dieing day

Can you stay just one more day
Catch up on some laughs we lost along the way
Makes me wanna cry
Or sing a lullabye

It's all behind me but it's in my heart
That reminds me gets lonely in the dark

do do do   do do do  do do do do do do do do   do do do

Was It All A Dream

Walkin’ down this rocky road
My feet just don’t know where to go
I didn’t have all the words to say
Now she’s packed and moved away

How could I have been so blind
Now I’ve gone and lost my mind
In a state of sympathy you see
She couldn’t find the real me

Think I’ll rest my head awhile
Feel so sick I’ve lost my smile
Could this be some fantasy
Could this be Could this be a dream Could this be a dream

Take a look watch the river flow
It calms me down inside you know
When I need some peace of mind
I’ll just toss my fishin’ line

The morning sun blinds my eyes
Her hand in mine to my surprise
Now my heart can take a rest
Last night put it to the test

Think I’ll rest my head awhile
I feel so good I’ve got my smile
It was all some fantasy
It was all It was all a dream It was all a dream
It was all a dream

Soldier

I saw you standing there about to fly over seas
You looked so proud and tall desert boots and Army green
To hold her one more time gave a reason deep inside
And if it seems surreal the way you feel

Was the sun shining bright when you left your hometown
A tear behind a smile her heart is saved inside a frown
Hope the letters never end whisper to a friend
She seals them and tucks inside a prayer

My country trained me well a sense of loyalty and pride
I feel so fit and strong with my sergeant by my side
Dear God keep me warm and shelter me from storm
Keep me in your dreams if I should pass

When the dust settles down and you hear the chimes of peace
Tell me stories what I missed and then rock me til' I sleep
Now it's in the past I can say home at last
Your writings filled a hole in my soul

The Last Indian

Can't you hear me call don't you know my name
Listen to the gentle wind blowin' by blowin' by the plain
Shadows cross the moon a whisper in the night
A memory of a big ol' fish puttin' up puttin' up a fight

I am the last Indian a dying breed of gentlemen
The ground under me was taken to my shame
The first Americans do you know their names

I feel it in my blood, it'll never go away
I wonder when my ancestors saw their last day
The fire in the sky they had no chance at all
Tried to let an arrow fly but destiny would call

I am the last Indian a dying breed of gentlemen
The ground under me was taken to my shame
The first Americans do you know their names

Where do we begin our children live in fear
Can you see my shadow in the land we held so dear
The Mortar and the pestil we had to grind our corn
A lonely soul an Indian to all my dead I mourn

I am the last Indian a dying breed of gentlemen
The ground under me was taken to my shame
The first Americans do you know their names
I am the last Indian
I am the last Indian

Listen To The Rain

Yesterday I wandered as I fell into a dream
A finger painted life or so it seemed
Some gingerbread men that called out my name
I woke up just to find I was the same

I think today I’ll take a longer course
Stop and see things along the way
Take the time to live and listen to the rain
Hear the sound it makes against the pane

Today I have a plan to try to change my ways
Stop and smell the roses for just one day
If I never take my time and it slips through my hands
I’ll file away some dreams and some plans

I think today I’ll take a longer course
Stop and see things along the way
Take the time to live and listen to the rain
Hear the sound it makes against the pane
Take the time to live and listen to the rain
Hear the sound it makes against the pane

The Simple Things

Walk on down the road with my four legged friend
A different kind of bond special trust to the end
The river clears my head and really helps me mend
These are the simple things the simple things

The hinting signs of Spring a different kind of smell in the air
She smiles from the garden and ties back her hair
I heard a Bluebird's song a melody among the glare
These are the simple things the simple things

Watch the beaming sunrise or the moon down by the bay
Footprints in the sand then the tide takes them away away
These are the simple things the simple things

I'll take a ride by the lake that always brings me back
Give thanks for what I have no regrets for what I lack
An old friend along the way helps you stay on track
These are the simple things the simple things
These are the simple things the simple things
These are the simple things the simple things

Watch The Wheel

Yesterday passed our way
We never knew it just flew
Took a chance no second glance
If you could knock on wood

Watch the wheel spinning round
Where it stops nobody knows
If it takes you to the lost and found
Tomorrow

Tried to make a lucky break
Not for me to always see
Roll the dice throw some rice
Where it takes another shake

Watch the wheel spinning round
Where it stops nobody knows
If it takes you to the lost and found
Tomorrow

Who's to say when’s my lucky day
Things you took take one more look
Chips that fall amongst us all
If you win your ship comes in

Watch the wheel spinning round
Where it stops nobody knows
If it takes you to the lost and found
Tomorrow

Memories

Can we find a way to rewind time for a minute
Freeze a single frame of yesterday when you were in it
The other night the two of us we shot the breeze
When we were young boy did we laugh and scrape our knees

All your memories
Stored away for free
Some might make you laugh
Like a photograph in your hand

Sometimes when I dream and I awake just can’t recall
I do remember how the leaves looked in the fall
My thoughts are all my own when I’m alone I reminisce
Some things you can’t forget and I still see my first kiss

All your memories
Stored away for free
Some might make you laugh
Like a photograph in your hand

Maybe when I die my life will flash before my eyes
Hold those times in your hand as years go by
It’s all a mystery how they get tucked away
I’ve got them in my heart all to save for a rainy day

All your memories
Stored away for free
Some might make you laugh
Like a photograph in your hand
Memories
Memories
Memories

The Highway Is My Home

I’m almost there another mile
Just to see my babys’ smile
Eyes ahead ten two on the wheel
I need to tell her just how I feel
The pain inside has got to be so real

Pullin’ off the side of the road
Maybe sleep for ten minutes or so
The back seat covers all I own
A duffle bag and a fishin’ pole
Those highway lines are buried in my soul

Cause you know the highway is my home
Grab another coffee and I’m gone
Sorry I can’t stay my tires need to roam
Think of me when you’re alone

Turn the dial another tune
A shooting star and a crescent moon
There’s other places I can be
I own a trunk of memories
My babys’ heart is all I really need

Now my baby’s here with me
That lonely road is in my dreams
When we lay to sleep at night
I can’t escape those highway lights
An empty road is such a lonely sight

Cause you know the highway is my home
Grab another coffee and I’m gone
Sorry I can’t stay my tires need to roam
Think of me when you’re alone

What You Do To Me

Another night of toss and turn
Endless fight with a heart that yearns
Can’t you see what you do to me

Break of day my heads’ in a cloud
Lot to say when you’re not around
Can’t you see what you do to me

Castles made of sand
Wash into the sea
Mark our time and plan in history

The afternoon the telephone rings
Is it you my heart begins to sing
Can’t you see what you do to me

Evening’s here I guess you went away
When you’re near so much to say
Can’t you see what you do to me

Castles made of sand
Wash into the sea
Mark our time and plan in history

Another night of toss and turn
Endless fight with a heart that yearns
Can’t you see what you do to me

It was a dream I held you tight
Closed my eyes with all my might
Can’t you see what you do to me

Castles made of sand
Wash into the sea
Mark our time and plan in history

Annie’s Tune

I think I’ll write a song about the one I love
She’s the only gal for me and the one I’m singin’ of
Helps me in the dark and holds onto the light
Gives me all the strength when I lose my sight

Li la la li la la li
Lil la la li la la li li li

I’ll pinch myself again just to see if it’s real
A pounding in my heart the way you make me feel
I melt inside your arms you take my breath away
An answer in a prayer the dreams we dare to say

Li la la li la la li
Lil la la li la la li li li

Let’s go for a ride watch the snow as it falls
I almost hear your name in the wind as it calls
We’ll walk into the night look up at the stars
I’ll kiss you in between Jupiter and Mars

Li la la li la la li
Lil la la li la la li li li
You make me smile away
I give my thanks every day

Li la la li la la li
Lil la la li la la li li li
Li la la li la la li
Lil la la li la la li li li
Li la la li la la li
Lil la la li la la li li li

Some Things Change

When I was a young man I stumbled all around
A charter member of the lost and found
As I got older I grew to realize
Stop and take a look in someone’s eyes

Some things change some stay the same
No different now just rearranged
Take a look you held it in your hand
The smile of a friend who understands

Cast a shadow your back to the wind
All the places you have been
Turn the page and so the story goes
Watch a wave as the wind blows

Some things change some stay the same
No different now just rearranged
Take a look you held it in your hand
The smile of a friend who understands

Gaze out a window tell me what you see
We’ll start a new beginning you and me
Goin’ through our changes with help along the way
One more step to every day

Some things change some stay the same
No different now just rearranged
Take a look you held it in your hand
The smile of a friend who understands

Dusty Roads

I’ll meet you at the dance to take another chance
Talk some more and maybe hold your hand
If we take the time some words will always rhyme
Watch the bottle wash up on the shore

We felt it in our hearts and maybe from the start
Anxiety played us in a game
Tired of letting go let’s make the best we know
A walk in sand and listen to the sea

Could it be we found some dusty roads
Might take some time to settle down
Some people say you reap just what you sow
Take a breath and look around
You might see what can be

Take the time to talk or maybe go for a walk
I’ll listen to your words all the while
I can still make you laugh you are my better half
Your smile warms my heart every day

Sit down by the beach and stay within’ my reach
The lonely moon stares into our eyes
Like the stars above a light to guide our love
Time we’ll always hold until the end

Can you see the light beyond the dusty roads
The path we held inside our dreams
The more we live and every step it shows
Share a smile to cast between
You might see what can be

These Times

Pick up the paper and read between the lines
Old men talk about the times
Sometimes hard to see the light
Hard to make ends meet without a fight

These times these times
These days these days
I had a dream a long time ago
Left a piece in your heart you know

I guess it really opens up your eyes
They might have put on a disguise
My parents sit and talk of fifty two
It seemed so easy then when we had you

These times these times
These days these days
I had a dream a long time ago
Left a piece in your heart you know

Can you count the moments
A ship goes sailing by
As the tides bring in the ocean
So goes the times

Don’t look back on too much history
The future waits for us to see
Listen for the pause between the songs
I’ll take it all in stride and move along

These times these times
These days these days
I had a dream a long time ago
Left a piece in your heart you know

"I started playing guitar when I was 15 with a Spanish guitar that was impossible to tune and the neck was warped.I managed to get some sounds out of it anyway. My record albums included Jeff Beck,Eric Clapton,Chicago,Crosby Stills and Nash,Joe Cocker, etc.I'd cut a neighbor's lawn and I'd buy another record album to study. The electric guitar found it's way in my room.It was a decent Japanese model and was playing some bar chords before long. After about 6 months of practicing I found myself playing in a wedding trio with an accordian player and a drummer. When I graduated High School all I wanted to do was play in bands.Working in a supermarket at 18 I managed to save enough money for my first real electric guitar.I boarded a train to New York City and headed to W48th where all the music stores were found.A man sold me a 1972 Gibson Les Paul and I only had enough money for the guitar. The case was $60.He placed the guitar in a cardboard triangular shaped box and secured it together with twine.I was in heaven with my new Gibson.Another train ride was made at a later date to Manny's on the same W48th street for a Marshall 50 watt amplifier head.A couple stereo speaker cabinets my Dad gave me were used and 2-12" speakers were installed.Although playing in local bands was fun and exciting,I always felt at ease just sitting playing an acoustic guitar. When I heard the first album by Crosby,Stills, and Nash they're sound just blew me away. That sparked my interest in singing and performing with the acoustic guitar.A group of friends used to hang out by a lake and we had a lot of fun.At that time I was in my mid 20's and was doing mostly cover tunes of groups like "America","Pure Prairie League","Crosby,Stills,Nash",and "Neil Young".The recording equipment that was used for my first original songs was on 4 track cassette tape. That was at the beginning of Napster in 1997 before they were shut down for copyright violations.I was converting the cassette wav files to mp3's for people to download on Napster. The beginnings of my songwriting was right around that time frame. The song "Snowblind" was an early work.We get snow in Ct off and on from December through February. The song "Snowblind" is about the tests of a friendship while driving through a snowstorm. The song "The Picket Line" was based on an actual strike that took place in 2006 by the company where I'm employed Sikorsky Aircraft. Our local union had the song on their own website for about a year. The chanting at the beginning and the end of the song is actual strike rally audio."

"When I write enough songs at any given time I take a ride down to Nashville,TN to see my producer Steve Haggard. We go over the arrangements and sometimes he chops out entire chorus parts.I wouldn't second guess him for a minute.Steve's record company is called Wild Oats Records. After the arrangements of the songs are done,we meet the guitarist and the fiddle/mandolin player at the studio first.I perform the song for them and they write down the music I'm playing in this unique Nashville music script. Then they put me in a small vocal booth and I sing while the guitarist and myself put down some acoustic guitar parts. The vocals don't actually get recorded at this time. They are called scratch vocals because they get erased. The instruments are recorded first but they need to hear the melody to help them along. Then the mandolin/fiddle player gets recorded. Then other musicians are brought in and recorded also like keyboards, etc. My vocals are done last and the producer spends about an hour and a half on each song with me.They go over my singing line by line until they're satisfied with the results. At times they're just looking for a single word they didn't like, enunciation,or clarity.Four songs take about a week to complete and the final mix is being worked on after I've already left for home.My son Mike has added some drums and percussion. He played drums for "On The Night Train".A musician named John Heinrich played sax, flute, clarinet for the song "The Simple Things" and recorder for "The Last Indian".Steve Haggard the producer played harmonica and performed backing vocals."
