The duo(,Michigan and Smiley) recorded their number 1 hit "Rub A Dub Style" over the original master tape for Alton Ellis' "I'm Just A Guy", followed by the even more popular "Nice Up The Dance". Although Sir Dodd released hits in the dancehall style, the sessions proved to be his swan-song before relocating to New York. The duo were able to overcome this setback by recording at Tuff Gong Studio the classic "One Love Jamdown", produced by Jahmet Enwright, which was released as a double a-side with Freddie McGregor's "Jogging". Michigan And Smiley gave a dynamic performances at the annual Reggae Sunsplash Festivals in 1980 through 1965, it was the unmatched performance in 1981 which led to a debut appearance in the UK where they topped the bill at the Black Echoes Reggae Awards Show. | | |
