Unforced sweetness

From the off there is a lot going on in the mix of this song with the bass, guitar and the drums adding some very interesting twists and turns giving the impression that the individual musicians were having a lot of fun listening very closely to each other. Add to this the natural and relaxed vocal sound and you have a good solid unforced musical gospel message full of sweetness and heart felt thanks giving. Thank you.

Love the song!

We love the message and lyrics. The melody is great. Our suggestion would be to put the instruments especially the drums more in the background and bring your vocal forward. You sing beautifully. The instrumental style seemed to be a little more rock than the country style that the song and your vocal making them seem a little incongruous. So maybe tweak the music a little and keep up the good work!

Steady

This is song is nicely done, the guitar is really leading the song and driving the theme of the bidding of the listener to the river. The dual voices give it that echo feel kind of reminding a person in a sense.

In MY Opinion

Greetings, Thank you for choosing me to review your work, I count it an honor to be included in such a task. My hat is off to you and anyone willing to step out and share their gift, talent and love of music to the public. Be it a musician, singer, song writer, actor and so-on. I myself, via 40 some years of experience in the fields, on the road, in the studio, radio, TV, video, and management, consider myself to be a seasoned musician, singer, song writer, studio-sound tech/engineer/ owner/operator, stage manager, find it sometimes hard/difficult and perhaps not even fair to sit in a seat, voicing My Opinion concerning another's creative efforts. Especially in certain genres of music I am not all that familiar with concerning very important elements that make up and meet the required standards to justify the various levels of ratings and grades. So, in saying ALL that, I will limit myself to MY Opinion concerning the quality of the work according to My ears, and the standards I have been familiarized with thru-out the years. I hold to the old - saying " Beauty Is In The EAR of The Beholder ... LOL. The sound quality of the recording over-all is very crisp and bright and clear, I really enjoyed the guitar work. Vocals are smooth and natural and extremely peaceful, but so much process, it sound echo. The sound track was confusing, like it was out of time with a drum machine. The mix levels let me know who was still in charge of this song. Like the message in the song, buy, had to really focus because of other elements need adjusted to clear things up. I mean no offense in any part, I myself take all feedback and use it as a tool toward my next project. I pray you feel the same way. Either way, I say to you, keep doing what you do, keep kicking and enjoying what you do. I tell folks all the time for many years. When it stops being FUN, then it's time to stop, and stand back and think about what we are doing, why we are doing it, how we are doing it, what we and others are getting out it. Is it what we want, and how we want it. IF NOT. what are willing to do from there? Thank you again for asking MY OPINION. Johnny

Come To The River

Esther, Keep on writing music for the Lord as their is not enough good music in this world to shout out "The Good News" . I found the Lord in at the river, in a church called the Refuge in Kannapolis NC. and my life has been changed forever! Praise Jesus for all He Has Done. Amen, Amen and Amen and God bless you for all your hard work and effort making his name known to the world as we can never have enough Jesus in this world!

yes

Come To The Riverreview. this song is a strictly country piece in the highest sense of the word. everything sounds in country style as I said everything recalls thecountry genre. personally it is not my favorite genre but I can give you a musical judgment that is certainly positive because all that there must be in a country piece in your piece is therefore complimented and continues. good job

Come To The River

This song helped me today with an instrumental that is very soothing and upbeat. The percussion has a great back beat and is quite unique. The words express the struggle of many likeminded Brethren in Christ. I love this new sound , great guitar and percussion. Every Brother & Sister in Christ needs to hear this song and claim The Lord's provision for Shalom, strength and perseverance and relief from burdens of the heart and soul. As we grow in Christ His Messages become clearer, A song much like "Michael Row Your Boat Ashore! Hal le lu Yah!

This is a great song and the background band is really creative and good. I love you background group and the words. All together it is a song ministering to those who need encouragement. Awesome work.

slow down

I would slow tempo 2x because lyrics run together. I would cut out the snare drum and use a xylophone and violin if you can as to show a sweet calming twist in the melody. Also show that the water has a very importance Biblical angle as one is a new creature from the old man if that makes sense ?

Tender vocal drowned out by rowdy band

Esther Swably has written and sung a pretty, old-fashioned song of struggle and endurance in the Christian walk, to a tune that sounds very much like "Heartaches By the Number" by Harlan Howard. She gives every evidence of being a nice church lady, and her voice is soothing and on-pitch, and I have no doubt she means every word. Unfortunately, her tender vocal is counteracted by a rowdy band, probably teenagers, drowning out the vocal with an up-tempo feel that is inconsistent with the lyrics of the song. Esther is probably trying to do the kids a favor, and they are probably trying to do her a favor, but they end up getting in each other's way. The individual players in the band have raw talent, no doubt, and the potential to rock out, but they tend to make themselves the message. Not only is the feel inappropriate to the message, but the players are too busy in what should be the background. My advice to Esther: be who you are. If you have written a tender old-fashioned country song, do it in a tender old-fashioned country way. Don't try to put a veneer of modernity or rock and roll on it. Let the real you shine through. My advice to the band: if you want to rock out, find a lead singer that rocks. If there isn't one to be found, just go instrumental for a while and develop your sound. If you want to back Esther, come up with renditions that are true to the song, and play to Esther's strengths. I wish all of you well.

Come to the River

Hi there Esther. The first thing I thought to myself when I heard your song was "It is wonderful, but it is so hard to hear the words. It would be nice if you could mix your voice a bit louder so that we could hear your story clearer. I think you have a very nice voice, and that you have a wonderful heart. Was that you harmonizing in the song; very nice. Your voice may not be too strong, but it is genuine, and I am sure that you have been used by our Lord to open many a heart through-out your ministry. Would you consider creating a bit of a longer musical introduction before you start singing? You have picked some nice instruments for your song. After listening a couple of times, I began to understand the story in your song; awesome girl. During some of the musical breaks, it sounded like one of your guitar players wanted to take off somewhere else. lol Sometimes less is more. ;) At the very end of the song, it sounded like there was a bit of a mix up in the notes. All in all, I think it would be wonderful to attend some of your concerts. Keep singing for His glory sister. Blessings, Trev. :)

my thoughts

Thank you for posting, thank you for asking for the review. Any song about JESUS is worthy. With that being said, I would ask the producer to bring your voice up in the mix, as in bring it forward. So we can hear it better. Lyrics and your voice are kind of buried. Thanks so much for posting.

Passion & Confidence! Believe in yourself!

Hi there! Just food for thought ;-) If you believe! Believe in yourself! Sing it with passion! Let’s here your voice!! I’ve had issues in the past of not believing in myself and not having confidence when I would sing in front of people! Trust me it shows! Just “BELIEVE IN YOURSELF!” And everything will fall into place! Thanks for sharing ;-)
