The mysterious alter ego of Xavier Calvera, a mild-manner Cuban-American songwriter, whose work is heavily influenced by among others Cuban Guajiras, The Beatles and melodic love songs of the 60's and 70's. Every now and then something snaps and out comes Elrod.
Elrod's first album is called 'One Dark Dude' and it's available on Lord Tiger Records. Elrod Geare is working on a new album 'One Love'. The song One Love is be the first cut in the album.

A 14-year-old boy left home with only the clothes on his back and came to a foreign land. Xavier Calvera moved to the United States to escape the repressive regime of Fidel Castro. He brought a unique understanding of music with him.
In Cuba, music is part of a person's identity. It permeates society and is an essential part of daily life. People dance in the streets and play rhythms on trash can lids, buckets or whatever is available.
Steeped in this musical culture, he came to America and absorbed rock 'n' roll like a hungry sea sponge. He learmed to speak and write English better than many who were born here.
The result is a unique brand of world pop music: melody, rhythm and expressive lyrics that clearly convey emotion and stimulate the imagination.
He has been writing and recording his songs, in both English and Spanish, crafting musicals and perfecting his talents with such notables as Peter Luboff.
His latest endeavor is a musical production intended for stage entitled "The Orishas Are Coming to America!" The show illustrates Afro-Cuban folk tales and explains how slaves from Nigeria preserved their religion despite persecution.
Currently in rehearsal, the program is expected to open in a Los Angeles-area theatre before the end of 2006. Check out the Website at :
