Knocking On Heaven's Door

Dear Elana, Thank you for singing this song with a Jazz ensemble. I love the tone of your voice, very anointed. Your timing is wonderful and so is the phrasing and emotion with which you sing. It is a rich and multi-layered in it's complexity. I love the back up singer (or was that you too?) The mouth organ harmonica was an especially soulful touch to this piece. I hope you are enjoying a career as a singer and I am sure you are being booked at many jazz club venues in Israel if there are any. Thank you for sharing your talents with the world. .

Elana Watson- Knockin on Heavens Door

Elana Watson gives Bob Dylan’s Knockin on Heavens Door a new Flavor. Watson’s smooth vocals and embellishments transforms the song into a modern jazz tune. The background track is simplistic, yet modern and suits Elanas vocals very well. I give this tune 4.5 stars. Well done ElanA and company! I will be listening for more of you to come!

Hello

I like Your Voice and Style..as It is now will be good to Perform in some Up End Establishments but in order to be played on Main Radio some changes must be made..I think to cut the intro and some instrumentals parts will bring It to 3.5 min which this is the Time Radio play most of the time..so if I be You I will make a version just for Them ..I do not know if this is an original song but if It is ..Music Publishers also do NOT like intro to long.. You did a Good Job to record It..I wish You good Luck with submissions..

Sweet surprise

I love Bob's version of this song, but Elana took it as if it were hers! Since then, I naturally stoped comparing and just enjoyed her version, arrangement, beautiful voice and vibe! Deliciously accepted! Congrats!

So Soulful

Great vocal first of all, I love this bluesy kind of funky feel, The vocal effect is just right not over down. Adding the choir strings perfect touch. Bass is in all the right spaces just the the funky piano licks , great job.

Elana Watson singing

This is not the first time I hear Elana. Her voice sounds very rich, although in this song - with small range. Her very intensive singing / sound enables Elana singing a wide scope of songs expressions. I think the Jazz may be her favorite singing. I think she is capable of singing a lyrical music and yet, sounds intensive - a dream of every singer. In some other songs I listen to I heard more of improvisation capabilities. A better musical expression may be achieved with acoustic instruments. Elena is a powerful singer that may take many challenges of style's singing.

really excellent !!

Thank you for sharing this very personal version of this song, which I took a very special taste after hearing it in your voice. The sensitivity of the performance is something that makes it stand out, and also the balance between the instruments, the melody, the harmony, and the final mastering, are very well achieved. In truth I send a congratulation for this magnificent work, and I hope to have the pleasure of continuing to hear versions of different songs in this same way, thanks!

Majestic Version of Heavens Door

Hi Elana, Such an interesting approach to this Bob Dylan composition. It is definitely done in a way that is so sultry with the mysterious background vocals that one would be swept away to the doors of Heaven. The short harmonica solo just adds to the over all creative touch. I can listen to this over and over...Such a Joy...I trust I'll get the opportunity to see and hear you perform your original version of "KNOCKIN' ON HEAVENS DOOR"... Thanks for the vision of vibrational fortitude...you digg

Jerusalem!!!

I figured Jazz would have a common purpose in Jerusalem. Music is universal, so I'm giving thanks to N1M for allowing us to meet. I am Splitendz the PROFIT here in Los Angeles Ca and I'm apart of BugleBlack Music Group. Bugleblack is a great trumpet player who also plays cords on any piano or keyboard. He makes predominantly all of my production plus he's family. Recently I have wrote Ill lyrics his production titled Jazzhop, and I'm number 2 on the Hiphop charts for Los Angeles. Its a song that I made titled GANGBANGIN and PIMPIN REMIX and ofcourse I just dropped the music video sequel to it. Please check out my music video

Definitely something there

From the first seconds, the climate created does captivate you and make you want to listen to more. Then the voice comes in and this is a voice. Richly textured, with soul and depth to it. The sound options are a little annoying in this that the effects used to brighten the sound are somehow a little too much (type of reverb used?) and cause the sound to be over metallic when listening from the laptop, but this can go forgotten or could easily be modified although it won't allow me the 5 stars I intended to rate this song/singer with. The arrangements are great and so are the musician(s), pretty original and well 'architectured' to build up the song and I generally like all the music parts. Now, the bridge is somehow taken us out of the song and I am not 100% sure of the artistic option taken (again, the effects used on the backing vocals) there, in this that the voice seems to lose its presence, due to the sound options. When the voice comes back on the chorus part, it would deserve to stay upfront. The violins and piano work well, so a tiny adjustment in the mix would be sufficient to fix this.As a singer myself, I'd like to have more of the lead vocal at the end in the sense that it seems no longer the center of the attention and I am then expecting the voice to take me higher and further to reach an apogee until the very last second of the song. It feels as a race and the runner stopped pushing just a little too early before the end line, if this can make sense. Elena does have in her everything to truly make it, she'd only needs to have a good vocal coach by her side to allow her the extra confidence needed for the last chorus part and the production is generally great and a good surprise in a world where few are standing out. She can and does have the potential to be this outstanding artist the world is looking for. I'd advised her partner(s) to simply mix again and put a little less weight on the effects to have a sound somehow more rough and natural, so that we can truly focus on the naked voice. But all together, I would definitely like to recommend Elana Watson, which I'll do with a heartfelt smile. Having travelled to Jerusalem in the past, I am amazed at imagining how this cover was made and all together an extremely interesting rendition!!! Bravo guys! I'll be looking forward to hear more from you and Elena, keep on singing from your Heart, you have so much to offer to this world! Great track! (Note to the artist: my son is a young but gifted and extremely exigeant sound designer and I'm sure he would be happy to have a technical conversation with Elana's team in this that he knows how to give the sound I am talking about. Now the vocal coaching is something I could offer as I am doing this for young gifted singers and I can already hear Elena giving all that she does have in her heart to share! Don't hesitate to get in touch! Music is one family :)

yes

knockin 'On Heaven's Door in the jazz version I had never heard it and I must tell you that it is a pleasant discovery. the piece acquires that elegance typical of jazz and that lightness mixed with musical highness and if one had never heard it could easily exchange it for a new piece. the arrangement is very accurate and we can see that those who play can play jazz in an excellent way. one last note: your voice is spectacular even if the recording is not the best.

Love that Smokey Groove !!!

Love that Smokey Groove !!! This is what I'm talking about... Vocals are emotionally delivered and meaningful... ( as a Producer, i would have loved to hear them a slight tad bit more upfront -as, i feel they would be even more impactful a little more up front and a tad bid less verb) All in all I Love it !!! Thx for sharing your Music :-)

Knock Knock

Who's there? Elana sent me request for a review in Number One music. I was very surprised to see that it was a Bob Dylan classic. I've never heard it done like this before. It starts off with a laid back piano, bass and drum intro.Really nice use of processed drums, keyboards with snappy delays, strings and harmonica. It's a very cool arrangement, that keeps the listeners' interest throughout the piece. The vocoder was a nice touch. The tune suits Elana's voice perfectly. I'm very pleased to have heard this tune today. I'd love to put some horns on it! All the best Elana, Stephen.
