Deniz Gungor Releases Debut Solo Album on Lola’s world Records
“LOVE ALLA TURCA”
A Poetic Aural Narration of “Love” - venturing into its depths and exposing the essential beat within
Drumming for almost two decades Deniz Gungor, the virtuoso of Logdrum and the inventor of Aquadrum, sets the scene for a timeless love story told in supreme manner in “Love alla Turca”. His compositions stream along blending performances of various instruments from the six continents with those of Logdrum and Aquadrum to make up the album, dedicated to the desire of a world without boundaries, free from being caught between forms and norms. This particular approach is finely reflected in the work-of-art that contrasts, combines or melts together aspects of the ancient and the contemporary, the primal and the sophisticated in a musical meta-language, embracing sounds from all the compass points: rhythms and sounds of the urban culture and the nature.
As the name of the album denotes, the universal perspective is spiced up with an accentuation on Turkish motives: the outcome is purely delightful and deserves to be defined as “the genuine, truly inspiring music you’ve been waiting for quite some time”. The gentle groovy undercurrent adorned with dramatic solos of different instruments from clarinet to ney, cello, guitar, bendir, kanjira, pandojero, dulcimer, didgeridoo and many others reflects striking, vivid images of a love story on minds and souls.
The amazing talent, Deniz Gungor has been professionally involved in music since 1993 on stage and in studio performances, working together with numerous stars of the Turkish Pop music until 2007. His in-depth occupation in drumming has led to an invention: the “Aquadrum”, the most recent member of steel drum and hang drum family, rendering the liquid tone and floating quality in his music. His solo masterpiece “Love alla Turca” is due for release in Europe on the global beat label Lola’s World Records in April 2010, as the result of a discovery of DJ Gulbahar Kultur, the holder of expertise who shapes the World Music scenery from Bremen/Germany, where she is based.
