About David Virgil
Singer Songwriter who has been playing since the mid 70's and still loves making music. I've played with bands for years as a frontman but in the last several years I've become a solo artist. I write and record my own songs these days. I've met and shared the stage with some real legends like Stevie Ray Vaughn, REO Speedwagon, Head East, Foghat, Badfinger and many others. I met Eric Clapton in the ... read more

As I used to drive to work each day I couldn't help but notice the large number of homeless people. These numbers just continued to grow which prompted me to write this song.

As I'm sure everyone has heard by now we have lost one of the greatest musical geniuses of our time today, Prince. I would encourage everyone to take a moment and play a Prince song to celebrate his life. I met Prince twice although it was very briefly. Both times it was while I was visiting Minneapolis. Both times it was when I was there on Business in the 90's and the first time I walked from my hotel to a nearby club where a Jazz fusion type band was performing. I had been there for about 30 minutes and was getting ready to leave when the door opens and in walks Prince. He made his way to the stage and talked to the band leader as the band continued to play. Prince jumped up on stage and picked up a guitar and started jamming with the band. Over the next hour Prince proceeded to play every instrument on stage and then simply jumped off the stage and started to leave. I stopped him and let him know how amazing I thought he was and told him he was the best guitarist I'd ever heard. The whole conversation only lasted a few minutes but he took the time to speak to me and was almost embarrassed over the praise I'd given him. He told me that to him music was everything and that he doesn't care about the fame or the fortune just the music. He was a very timid and meek man who truly loved what he did and I will never forget him or his music. Some of his songs definitely inspired some of my own. May he rest in peace and continue to make music in heaven. He will surely be missed.

I have so many songs that are in various stages of completion. Most are just lacking the vocals or vocals and lead guitar. When I say many I mean way more than I can reasonably do somewhere around 30 songs or so. This is where I need your help. I was thinking of posting 2 - 3 songs every week and have you tell me which melodies you like best. I plan on booking studio time when I go to Asia in a few months and will take the WAV files for the songs with the most potential to record.
These songs all have a special meaning to me so I can't be objective when it comes to choosing what to do first. I hope you all would like to participate in this little experiment and give me your honest opinions. I don't always choose what the majority would so out of the 30 or so songs I would like to bring that number down to maybe 6 songs to record when I go.
Thank you all for taking the time to even listen to my music. I have been writing songs for over 40 years and can't see myself stopping now. For whatever reason over the last few years I have been inspired to write more and more.
Best Regards All,

Hi everyone .... sorry I haven't loaded anything new in a while but I am uploading a couple of songs you haven't heard. I've been searching for a new studio to record at and have at least 30 new songs that I need to record. That is the challenge of living on the Island of Guam and I can't wait to leave here later this summer and return to where I can find a decent recording studio. The only positive thing I can say about being here is the fact that I have been able to write a lot of new songs and once recorded I will have a killer album to release. That and I have had time to perfect the songs. I am know as a songwriter and singer and not as a guitarist so I've had time to practice playing as well. I've also been able to add several guitars to my ever growing collection and am now up to 30. Actually not quite 30 yet as I am having a custom Tele style guitar built but it is actually a HS Anderson Mad Cat Tele .... I can't wait for it to be completed and try it out.
Thanks for listening and being patient!

Hi all I want to apologize for not getting all the new music I want to out there. It is frustrating to me as a writer and performer to not be able to record and release my songs. I have easily 20 songs recorded and another 20 that are nearly completed and I just need to add the vocals or lead guitar in some cases both. I am currently living and working on the Island of Guam and there are no real recording studios here to speak of. My last 2 songs I recorded in Manila. It is a challenge recording there as well and I go only once a year. I am working on returning to the mainland and when I finally am able I have so many great songs to complete and release. I may upload a few instrumental versions of the songs I am working on. Two I feel are really good and I am dying to get a chance to complete them once I get in the studio, one is Darkside Of The Moon and the other is Any Other Way. Hopefully I will get a response to the instrumental version and that will encourage me to press forward.
Thank you all for listening to my music; I write songs because I love music and am inspired to write even after 40 years.
Thanks,
Dave

I have been busy lately writing new songs and I can honestly say I have several songs that cover a wide range of styles. I have a few that are just get down dirty Rock and one song that hopefully reminds you of classic Santana and even a beautiful ballad and love song. I am working of the arrangements now and will post the instrumental version of this song very soon and of course when i get back in the studio to lay down the vocals I will post the finished song. I am putting the lyrics for this song below and hopefully you will appreciate the words. Think of it as a teaser until I post the finished song.
My Everything Music & Lyrics by: David Virgil
(Verse 1)
Waking up seeing your face the feeling I get is serene
Every time I look in your eyes it’s almost like living a dream
When I hold your hand or kiss your lips there’s no place that I’d rather be
It’s a miracle a miracle that you are here with me
You’re my everything my everything you are my reason for being
(Verse 2)
Reaching out touching your skin making sure that you are real
You know that I can’t put into words all the things you make me feel
But when I hold your hand or kiss your lips I get a feeling that I can’t describe
It’s a miracle a miracle I feel a love that can’t be denied
You’re my everything my everything you’re the reason that I am alive
(Verse 3)
Every night as I lie in bed I thank god that I’m alive
And for giving me somebody to love that brings out the good inside
And when I hold your hand or kiss your lips and feel your sweet caress
It’s a miracle a miracle life without you is meaningless
You’re my everything my everything the reason that I am whole
You’re my everything my everything and I just want you to know
You should know

After months of waiting I have finally been able to go into the studio and record a couple of new songs. I was recently in the Philippines and took advantage of that to go to Dragon Sound Studios to record with Geoff as he is one of the best in the business and is also currently working with Crosby, Stills and Nash as well. Anyone of that caliber has to be doing something right. I have dozens of songs that are unfinished and picking just 2 to work on while I was there was hard but hopefully I picked 2 good ones that you will enjoy. This was an experience because not only was I working with someone new but I also purchased a few guitars while in Manila and I used a vintage 1970's Fernandes Stratocaster with a Yellow Submarine motif and it was the first time I had played it. I will say it was a pleasure to play and had a great vintage song so I was happy it worked out well.
Hopefully you will like the 2 songs, Amazing Grace and Treat Me So Bad. I look to recording more in the near future from a yet to be determine location .... maybe back in the good old USA.
